no online play is the biggest flaw for it
It does have online play, but from what I've heard it's a pain to deal with, and there are only two games compatible.
But it's a last gen system, so I don't have much to complain about. While the Wii doesn't have a lot of online titles right now, it least offers some... I think Nintendo relaized that online play is a huge deal for people...
Lack of third party support.
The controller has slightly fewer buttons than the PS2/Xbox. That couldn't have helped, either.
The only things I have against the Cube are the horrible design of the controller and the small space the memory cards have.KatanaMaster_17
the only thing i hated about the GC controller was the small d-pad, but otherwise it was much better than the PS2 (overly sensitive analog sticks in the middle of the controller? bad for FPSs) and the xbox's uncomfortable triggers set up
- Small disk size, if it had DVD support it could have been able to hold more data. Why do you think the GTA games never made it to the GC?
- Lack of 3rd party support.
- It could have done better in the online department.
It was indeed a tragic fate for the GC. But hey, I had fun play it. Now I don't have it anymore because I stupidly sold it to my friend who broke it and sold all the games! Oh well, I guess I'll get one now seeing as they're so cheap. I'm not gunna fall into the Wii's gimmicky controller and lame party games.

1.5GB is still plenty of space considering the limitations 40MB of RAM puts on texture size and whatnot... plus multiple disks could always be used. I'm thinking that GTA never ended up on the GC because of the impression that it was a "kiddy" console.
I can't say processing power like some above...since it was technically MUCH more powerful than the PS2. And its RAM and Processor combo made it more powerful than the Xbox (remember..processing power...not graphics). Pretty much it was a lack of 3rd party support and its kiddy image. The disc space was also an issue, hence the lower grade textures on most games. It could've been done...but developers get lazy on compression techniques. Either way, I have over 40 titles for the cube, and I enjoyed the heck out of it.

Not if you bought the 1019 memory card. And most Gamecube games don't take up that much memory.

na, that game would just be impossible to split into two discs..

Yeah, but I am pretty sure that any of the GTA's used a DVD9...but I still do think that there would have had to been 3 discs or something...and that would have sucked! The image it has with kids.
What really blows me off is that parents buy the gamecube and them and their kids say they are hard core nintendo fans. That is not true. I have been there with Nintendo and Sega since the NES and Genesis. They have been there for not even 1 gen. Pokemon and 3rd party crap. These kids who trashed the 64 like they did to the gamecube now say they are hard core xbox 360 fans and own 3 games for it, halo 1, halo 2, halo 3. Some are even so hardcore they buy rockband or guitar hero. A few years ago we had some kids come over and they wanted to play SSBM because I didn't have Pokemon. I won, and the funny thing is they play it a lot and I play it about an hour every 2 weeks. These are the kind of people we are and have been letting ruin videogames for about 10 years. I don't have a problem with them doing this, but Nintendo has been catering like crazy to these people. For every good game the wii has, there are probably about 10 bad games.

I've read a lot of posts here complaining about the cubes lack of online play and although it was indeed a problem it wasn't a major one. How many online games did the game Gamecubes main competiton have (not many) and it didn't stop it from being the most successful console out there.
My worry is that now in 2008 the lack of online play will affect the cubes sucessor. In 2001 it didn't matter so much but times have changed...
One of the flaws with the cube actually came from Nintendo for not having thestrength to support their machine as much as they could. The lack of advertising, marketing when compared to the competition was poor. I'm glad to see that Nintendo have changed now, it's just a shame that they have supply problems something which the cube never had.
