i was looking at this game and am very interested in it, but im just wondering how is it? i think its about 10 bucks at walmart and comes with that GBA Thing...

also, is it necessary to play with the GBA? or can u play with just the GC controller?

also is this a good game for someone who has never played a FF game before?

I'll be honest... I've never been more dissapointed in a game before, though it's not a bad game, it's just I had high expectations for it.

It's less of a Final Fantasy game than it is an action RPG that just happens to be called Final Fantasy. It's great for multi-player, and the single-player isn't that bad, either.

Alot less fun if you don't have 2 people to play it with.

this was my first experience with final fantasy and i was not impressed. my friend bought it and we played for a while but after about 30 min. it just gets boring. of course, then i borrowed it and took it home and tried to play single player...which is not something you want to try with this game.

If you have at least one friend with a GBA and GCtoGBA cables it's fun. Single player... meh. I went through a few times four player and would highly recommend.

Here's what the game is about:

You get to make your own hero. Gender, race, clothes and all. You then move around a rail and choose from 1 of 14 dungeons to choose from. You enter the dungeon, move through it, meanwhile killing enemies, opening chests and grabbing items. Combat is a matter of tapping or charging the A button whether it's a spell or a weapon. After you are done, you get to choose what to level up.

Between dungeons, you'll get into cutscenes and go to towns to upgrade, buy or sell.

And that's basically it: dungeon, fight, items, level and repeat. Of course there is more depth to the game such as finding the materials to make certain items, fusing spells together and finding moogle nests, but that's more to the side. There is a story and it opens up at the end.

So what you are getting is a real-time, multiplayer, dungeon-run game.

Yeah single player is really slow and tedius and I've never played the multiplayer but it's supposed to be good that way so if you're gonna buy it for multiplayer get if not absolutly not! There's a lot of better GC games out there.

If the Baldurs Gate hack/slash games had a kid with the Final Fantasy games - FF:CC is what it would look like. That sounds better than it works though. The single player game is just average. Ignore anything anyone tells you about the multiplayer being cool, cause it is way too much of a pain in the ass to even attempt.
