But I don't know if it has the quality games that thePS2 and Xbox has. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Nintendo, but didn't think that the GC had enough online and third-party games.

So what do you think?

It doesn't have enough online and 3rd party games... but there are still plenty of great GC exclusives. If you can find enough that you're interested in, then go for it... you can get most games for $20 or less these days.

There are tons of amazing GC games. If I were you I'd spend the extra $150 though and get a Wii since all GC games are playable on Wii.

Right now the Wii looks pretty darn good by your standards, and apparently the Wii can use the GC games and controllers.

It's only $150 more, comes with a game (the GC doesn't), and can play everything the GC can. Do yourselfa favor and pick up a Wii.

Honestly, I call my Gamecube gaming "The Glory Days" for me. For some reason I loved everything about the Gamecube, I enjoyed Metroid Prime, I enjoyed Baten Kaitos, Paper Mario 2, Tales of Symphonia, Windwaker, etc. There is just so much good games on the Gamecube.

ehhh.... it all depends on the games you like....PS2 doesnt have ALL of GC's great games either. Its missing smash bros, the MP games, and a few other nintendo favorites..

Actually the opposite is true. Nearly all of the GC's goodgames are first party which means they are not on the PS2.

Yeah. I'm thinking about selling my GC then get a Wii, cuz the Wii plays all of the games.

That's a good idea but you probably won't get much for it.

Innovation is repackaging the GC and adding a motion sensing remote? Not exactly, although it has turned out to be a shrewd business move.

No, innovation is completely revolutionizing the way games are played. Apparently everyone else agrees with me considering the Wii is still sold out 9 months after launch, will become market leader very soon, and has almost already sold half as many units as the GC did during its entire lifespan.

Nintendo wast not that good in the console market last generation. However, they are turning this around with the Wii. If you can't find one, consider a DS

For what it's worth, the motion-sensing was an incredibly good way to get non-gamers playing games... and that was the whole point of the motion-sensing from the start. At least for me, controls have nothing to do with the gameplay experience...

I dunno, I think that the motion sensors might be fun for FPS... In addition, nintendo did such a small thing like motion to make a huge success. Wonder why no one else went with it. And since no one went with it, do you think that 3rd party manufacturers will actually make a lot of their great games make great use of that motion? I think they will just add it in as a makeshift way to port to the Wii and it will be cheasy. Like TMNT, for one.

Nintendo has always been the innovators of gaming. They invented the controller as we know it. Only joysticks existed previously. They then added rumble, analog, etc. All of which were copied. Now they added motion sensing which will definately be copied next generation.

I think they will just add it in as a makeshift way to port to the Wii and it will be cheasy. Like TMNT, for one.

That's what happened at launch but is no longer happening. Just look at the lineup this fall. Also, ported games like Resident Evil 4 and Zelda play much better anyway.

I got my gamecube for free when my friend bought a wii, but if you have to invest money into it, I agree with the masses saying to buy a wii. It has some fantastic titles in the pipeline, it plays all gamecube games, and the virtual console is releasing many of the great titles of nes, n64, snes, turbographix, sega etc....

But if you are poor and you can find a gamecube for 30$ or less than it is still a valid option.

Buy a GameCube because it's much cheaper than the Wii, and it can play all the great Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance games with a Game Boy Player, an accessory that doesn't work on the Wii.

Great Idea, Get a wii so you can play nes titles that are free from the internet via emulation.

That 's illegal.

It's only $150 more and comes with a free game unlike the GC. It is well worth the extra money. You'll also be set for gaming for the next 5 years instead of owning a system that's on its deathbed. You'll probably want to buy a Wii eventually so you might as well do it now.

and it can play all the great Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance games with a Game Boy Player, an accessory that doesn't work on the Wii.

The Game Boy Player is out of production and can only be found for very expensive prices on sites like Ebay. You could just buy a GBA for much cheaper. That is a poor argument to get someone to buy a GC over a Wii...

Casiotech

Yeah... in fact every now and then I make a thread in System Wars about the whole syndrome of 3rd-party developers seeing crappy games with tacked-on motion sensing sell well, and thus keep making them. And fanboys take it as an insult to the Wii. It's not the Wii at fault, it's the lazy 3rd parties (or ignorant consumers, depending on how you look at it).

HAHA "POOR". It has nothing to do with being poor, lots of these kids aren't spoiled rotten by their parents like you and don't live at home in which case they prefer to spend their money 'wisely'. Get a GC, wait two years, upgrade to ps3.

Sorry Mr. Saint. I could only imagine what you have on your PC. What is this free game you keep mentioning??? Wii sports or something crappy that not that many people can stand to play. I know since you spent all that money on this console you force yourself to enjoy it but deep down, just like everyone else that saw the wii sports demo, was like 'what is this crap? Some boring ps1 game remake?' My FAVORITE was the wiifit. Did you see that guy doing the pushups and then rubbing himself down?!?!?! HAHHAHAHA. I'm not going to say anything more about wiifit, because you get banned for saying anything here. Just because you like the bundled crap, doesn't mean the masses would. Can I get SSX Blur or MP3 or SSBB in that bundle??? Why not, they are all valued at $50. Because honestly the one bundled isn't worth $5. In fact, it would probably make the average person return the system when they see how lame the bundled game is.

Mmkay, I'm going to settle this whole debate with one post.

If you:

-Want to play Gamecube games
-Want to have a console on which you will be able to get new releases for for another five years
-Are going to enjoy the Wii's features, from motion-sensing to online play
-Have interest in new games coming out from the Wii

Get a Wii.

If you:

-Want to play Gamecube games
-Have a smaller budget
-Are not interested in any features of the Wii
-Do not want upcoming Wii games
-Want to use the Game Boy Player or LAN/Broadband play
-Want a next-gen console other than the Wii

Get a Gamecube.

That was painless, wasn't it? :|

Wii Sports is awesome and the Wii was the best $250 I ever spent. You're just mad because you wasted your money on a $600 graphics box with no games. I think everyone agrees with me since the Wii is actually selling whereas the PS3 is sitting on the shelf. The 360 has been on a year longer is still outselling it by a lot. You know why? Because it actually has games.

But you miss the point -_-. I don't buy the ps3 for games, I bought it for blueray and because it's state of the art technology. I like to benchmark these things and see what the limits are. I know now it's $500 with 60gb and I don't care. I did save $150 by buying a GC instead of a Wii. It's still the latest tech and I look forward to the amazing things it can do. Blueray is outselling hddvd 2 to 1 and the 360 died literally on everyone within a year. I went to CCity and saw the red rings of death on a new elite model they just installed. What a POS. The ps3 was put through rigourous benchmarks and hasn't reported any problems in the past 9 months. Some ppl left it running crazy benchmarks for 5 days and it never crashed or overheated.

Like I said, you can Get a ps3 today for $350. Way better tahn $250 for a wii. WHen will you just admit that all you need is a GC for past gen greatness and a ps3 for next gen greatness? Nothing is in between.

So you bought a gaming console just to watch movies? Sorry but gaming consoles are for games. PS3 has a terrible lineup right now and almost all its good upcoming games are on 360.

The GC had more good games at it's LAUNCH.

That's a lie. GC had a pathetic launch with only Luigi's Mansion and a decent Star Wars game.

The best part is how excited he gets over all the 3rd party wii games that are coming out for PS3/360 and then downgraded SEVERLY for the wii.

No, I get excited about 3rd party exclusives. I will most likely buy a 360 later this year.

Nope. You need a PS2 and GC for past gen greatness and a Wii and Xbox 360 for next gen greatness.

The argument was between the GC and the Wii... discussion of other next gen consoles belongs in their respective forums, or if you're comparing them to consoles such as the GC, in System Wars.

But you miss the point -_-. I don't buy the ps3 for games, I bought it for blueray and because it's state of the art technology.

WHen will you just admit that all you need is a GC for past gen greatness and a ps3 for next gen greatness?

Nope. You need a PS2 and GC for past gen greatness and a Wii and Xbox 360 for next gen greatness.

I have nothing against 360 except that it's an inferior peice of technology that's bound to break. I have heard that everyones had problems with their 360 and microsoft doesn't do anything to fix it. Even sends you a core system for your elite as a replacement...

What about waverace? that was awesome..
