I've seen the article on EA's website that talks about Vince Young being on the cover and it does mention in that article that they were planning to make Madden available for the Gamecube.

However, when you go to the "pre-order" link on EA's site, the Gamecube version is not listed for a choice.

So now i'm wondering if they really will offer up Madden 2008 on the GC or if they may decide not to.

I had never bought Madden 2007 for the Gamecube.  Just trying to decide if I should pick up Madden 2007 at a cheap price or wait for Madden 2008.  May not be anything to wait for though if it isn't coming....

Believe me, the GC version is coming.

If you need other sources, the GC version is listed on IGN and GameStop:

In that case, I'll probably just wait for 2008 unless I hear it's been cancelled....

I doubt it will. Madden has been on GC since the system was released; none of the games were canceled. But yeah, it's definitely possible it could be canceled.

I e-mailed EA Sports customer service and basically got a generic canned response that didn't shed any light on it.  Don't know why that can't just answer the darn question.

Still trying to decide if I should wait and hope that Madden 2008 comes for Gamecube or just get 2007 for $10-$15....

Madden 08 will be on the Cube. Hell, the PS1 was supported with Madden until 2005.

Above is link to pre-order site on EA Sports.  I just find it suspicious that the Gamecube is the only platform not included.

I sure hope it does.....

Just wondering if anybody out there has heard anything more concrete on this.

My guess is that it will come based upon some of the stuff I've read, but still haven't seen anything real solid to convince me 100%.

Still bothers me a little that the EA sports official Madden website lists basically all the platforms for pre-order, except the Gamecube.

I've tried several times to e-mail EA sports to get a solid answer but I've had zero luck.

I'm still just trying to decide if I should get Madden 07 and get to work on the roster updates or just wait for 2008 to come out (if it's indeed coming).

Wait and see if it's really being released on the console. If it is, buy 08. If not, buy 07.

It's stupid to make a 2008 madden for the cube, because the cube is, like, dead.

i would rather buy it on another console mainly because madden games take up a lot of memory, and in my country memory cards for the cube are quite rare now they aren't in stores any more

Hard to believe you when the IGN site says:

NOTE: This game has not been officially announced by the publisher, and it has not been confirmed which platforms Madden NFL 08 will be released on -- it may or may not be released on this specific platform. Check back for official info.

Indeed, EA Sports always supports older systems for a long time. There even was a Fifa98 for the SNES.

I had seen that same article, but it was still bothering me that the EA store was offering pre-orders for almost every system except the Gamecube.

However, I now see they are offering a Madden 2008 pre-order for the Gamecube:

So it official in my mind......Madden 2008 is definately coming to the cube.

That's the page.

And yes, Madden 08 is definitely coming to GameCube. It's been confirmed for over a month now.

I don't have any official conformation but I'm betting thatit will come to GC. EA is such a huge company with so many different sources of revenue that it's not really that big of a deal if they put out a GC version. It's not a huge expense for them and they're not going to take a big hit if the GC version doesn't sell well. (Which I should point out is typical for GC versions of EA Sports games, PS2 and Xbox versions sell far more copies when compared to GC) So its not a very big risk for them to do so.

Yet despite that, the GC versions are always a success in both ratings and sales.

Yeah, the Sports games. Not most of EA's other franchises. Need For Speed games especially, since the GC versions outsell the Xbox versions most of the time. And yeah most of those franchises have now been discontinued on the GC, but it's likely that the next NFS will come to the GC since the NFS games don't sell the worst on GC and plus NFS sells better on GC than Madden does and Madden is still coming to GC this year.

Well I don't think any of that should be seen as a feather in the GC's cap. It's just economics, and again this is EA we are talking about. No other company would be producing these products for the GC. EA represents a truly unique case in the gaming world. So I think you're somewhat overstating how significant of an impact these games are going to have on the GC and it really doesn't give any validation to the GC as viable and profitable system. It's good that they are being published at all, and they probably will sell some copies, but I just don't see these games as having any real effect on the status of the GC overall.

Yes, the sports games don't sell extremely well on the GC. I agree with you on that one.

But the NFS series does have an effect on the GC's status, since it does quite a bit better on GC than Madden does on GC.
