Yeah, but it's the stylized feel that makes it so attractive. And you have to admit, it does take itself more seriously than other video game stories...I dunno FUNKYHAMPSTER, I certainly respect your viewpoint, I guess I just had a different reaction personally. To me, the game almost felt like it was poking fun at itself at times, and the gimmicky stuff, while fun, took something away from any sense of intensity, at least in my opinion.
The game was alot of fun to play, but I honestly drowned out 75% of the dialogue sequences. They were just brutal at times in terms of sloppy writting, cheesy zingers, and overly dramatic rants. I especially found Otacon to be utterly annoying (i shudder every time I get to his "i love my japanese anime" segment).
Also, while I loved the gameplay and graphical updates of the NGC version, I could have done with a little less of the matrix slowmotion clips.
