The poster is talking last gen, not next gen. The PS2's rumble is very much in place and a bit strong than the GC, not that it really matters much. That's like complaining that the Sega Genesis doesn't have rumble. *sigh* Â
I find the Gamecube's rumble doesn't feel right, being weaker. I think it's because it comes more from the centre of the controller and the PS2 has two vibrators right in the handgrips meaning a more direct feel. Never have touched an Xbox controller so I have no idea about it.
 And honestly... rumble is used very rarely in any games as an actual gameplay mechanic and at that I usually never even really notice it unless it's riduclously strong (as is the case with FFX's summons), at which point it's actually irritating.
