This might be me being a noob, but is it possible to play Japanese games on a PAL GC? I can't remember if its region-free like the DS and PSP. I want to import Naruto: Clash Of The Ninja 4.

Yes it is possible but u need one of three things...

1.) Freeloader - from Action Replay people.
2.) Action Replay - Contains freeloader in it + cheat codes
3.) er something called mod chipping ;) never tried it but the above two work fine :)

BUT if u do use jp GC software in your UK cube + 1+2 or whatever it will reformat your memory card as the jp version uses a slightly different mem storage format. So get yourself a spare card basically :)

Odd, I have played a few Japanese games (imports) on my cube (American) and have never had the problem with getting my memory card formatted. Though you may only be talking about the UK cube, not sure about that.
BTW, mmy cube is modded to play imports.

Well just incase, having a seperate Memory Card won't hurt. A secondhand £2 mem card won't break the bank. Thanks for that, I'd hate to lose my Resi Evil saves.

You need a freeloader first to set up your system for all regions.

I've played a few Japanese games on my PAL Gamcube using Freeloader and they seem to work mostly ok. Some of the Japanese writing doesn't work on a few games like the first Naurto game but everything else is fine. Also it's a good idea to save your games to another memory card for saving import game saves to.

However, none of the Donkey Konga games will save correctly nor will saving to Mr. Driller: Drill Land. It will try to save and then reformat your game card. I know I've tried before!!

Some games will reformat your memory card and some won't. It isn't worth taking the risk, if you've got data you care about. Use a spare card.

Freeloader (at Play-Asia) is a wonderful pice of software. Remember to use another memorycard when you play Japanese games.
