It's not harder than MP1, it's not easier either...it's just really inconsistent; the game ping-pongs back and forth between being ludicrous and just being a joke. Sometimes it hits a balance but not often. That is really my only major complaint against MP2.
I find it strange that so many people get lost so easily in MP2...I played it without the hint system and found it easier than playing MP1 with hints on. You guys are probably trying too hard to make progress when you should just be exploring and worrying less about whether you are side-tracking or progressing.
I have to say that I really loved MP2 a lot, just as much as Prime 1. Is it ahrder? Not really I found it quite easy but taht was on nomral and Im playing through Prime 1 on hard right now and its not taht hard either.
The only reason I might edge toward Prime 1 a bit more is because it fits into the universe a bit more what with the chozo and stuff.
However I really liked the sanctuary fortress in MP2.
From what I can remember, the games were about equal in difficulty for me. I found Echoes to be a bit more annoying in terms of having to remain confined in light in the Dark World without taking difficulty and having to travel/retreat to them to regain energy.VMan
I found it annoying but I liked it at the same time because the dark world was like one of those "Aww crap I have to in again" things but once you get the light suit its all good and you feel special :)
I've only died in one spot so far (although it was on a boss, and I died like 5 times) and I haven't gotten stuck at all.
And I needed to use a strategy guide for the fricking Wind Waker. If I can play MP2 without getting annoyed, anybody can.
Seriously, though, if it's too hard or you get stuck, just use a walkthrough to get unstuck or to help you find more energy tanks to survive boss fights.
I just finished MP2 the other day! I was pretty excited, especially since I'd picking away at it since last November. (Somehow I just don't get a lot of opportunities to play our consoles.) I thought it was fantastic. Yes, some of the bosses are tough but overall I'd say it's pretty much equal with MP difficulty and quality wise. I will admit to relying on walkthroughs at a couple of points because I'd forget what was happening due to long layoffs in between play times. Honestly, I don't understand why so many people are down on this game!
I didnt like the dark world it became annoying to navigate in it cause some parts of it werent connected so you ended up going back to the light world and trying to find another dark world portal. But thats the only part that really annoyed me.Minishdriveby
That's the part I loved...though I didn't do it the hard way by wondering blind and then getting stuck. Instead I looked at the maps and kept overlaying them (tap x to change from dark to light maps whilst on the map screen, I think), the fact the maps are fully 3d is very helpful. I'd write down my course, so it would be like "I have to go into dark here, out here, in again there etc", and somehow stopping to fiddle with the map and scrawling down notes for 10 minutes didn't disrupt the pace of the game for me, it only made it more immersive that I had to stop and navigate properly. A little planning and foresight in your wanderings helps tremendously ^_^
its a little harder than MP1 but not a lot harder. i havent beeten it yet but so far its kinda annoying not knowing what to do and backtracking into the dark world.

it got to me more in the end cause i would look at the map for 10 minutes and accidently go the wrong way lol then end up at some other portal. I remember i thought i had all the sky temple keys and i actually had only 8 and i was going WTF NOW I HAVE TO TRAVLE ALL THE WAY BACK TO THAT GOD DAMN FORTRESS! lol.

Tut tut tut. Now I have a superiority complex about it and everything.
