My friend had the same problem with the disc read error, but I came over to his house to play a game and actually fixed his GameCube. ( I'm 13 ) He called me God and now whenever he has GameCube problems he invites me over and he said it's good because it's free repair.
I agree with the first post, you should make them show you that it works before leaving the store with it. Also, GameCubes have gotten quite cheap at $99.99, you might be better off buying a new one; that would certainly be my preference. I bought my GameCube a while back when they bundled it with Zelda and really never noticed any problems.
Good luck,
Sounds like you got a lemon. My GC has been the best system as far as disk errors and other problems (I'm not going to get started on the PS2!).
I too have had disk read errors, but only from the game disk being scratched and dirty.
I was talking to Bob Sagat the other day, and he said he was having a similar problem. My solution...Eat some ice cream and turn that frown upside down! :~)
that's bizarre... guess the previous owners couldn't take care of a game system...
my cube has never had a disc read error or problems loading and saving...
although, there was a time where i got absorbed into PSO and had 318 hours into one of my characters, but i was stupid enough to save those files onto a 3rd part mario sunshine bundle pack memory card that was pretty old cause my regular card was full... and you can't move PSO files... the card got corrupted eventually and i lost prolly around 800 hours worth of time playing that rediculous game lol... same thing happened to a couple of my friends... and then we came up with the saying..
"Friends don't let Friends play PSO..."
Does that really work, let me try...oh yes! But anyway, you should ask them to turn it on to show you that it works.I was talking to Bob Sagat the other day, and he said he was having a similar problem. My solution...Eat some ice cream and turn that frown upside down! :~)
