You could probably find it for cheap but I am sure you could play those games on the WII if you spend around 200 more and then you would have the most up to date system at least for 3 or 4 years. Just my 2 cents

If you're not going to be able to afford a next gen system than you might as well buy the Cube. There are probably 20 great games and another 50 very good ones that would keep you occupied for a very long time. Plus, most of the great games are very cheap at this point.

the GC is a lot like the Dreamcast.  Lots of great games, but underappreciated at the time.  Currently, getting the GC would pointless, as the Wii will play all of it's great games on it as well.  But if you have no intention on getting the Wii, and just want a $60 GameCube, here's a list of awesome games I loved.  Then, you can decide on your own:

Super Smash Brothers.

Resident Evil 0

Resident Evil: Remake

Resident Evil 4

Mario Kart:Double Dash!!

Mario Tennis

Mario Strikers

Mario Party 5,6,7

Wario Ware

Viewtiful Joe 1,2

Metroid Prime 1,2

Zelda: The Wind Waker

It's exactly the same except for the control scheme. Without having played both (or either, for that matter) how can you say playing it with the Wiimote is going to be better?

i got my GC, plus MGS:twin snakes and one of the zelda games (that i later sold on ebay for $70) plus two controllers, two controller extensions, two of the bigger mem. cards and a carrying case all for $100 including s&h. and lik ei said i sold zelda as soon as i got it for $70 so i really only paid $30. so id definatly try to buy one off of ebay or something because they usually sell them with bundles and its a better deal than buying from the store.

As good as the Gamecube and it's are no. Considering that the Wii will be fully backward compatible to the point that you can use the Gamecube controller and will have new next-gen games and Virtual Console and only costs the amazing price of $250 I would wait a few extra months for that rather then getting a Gamecube.

It depends on what you think. If you want to be a gamer who has it all, get the gamecube. If not, get the Wii (it has an attachment), either way you'll get it.

Get the Wii, even though 99.9% of the Wii games suck there are some great GC games that you will play for hours on the Wii since it can play GC games and might get a good game eventually.

I bought mine for $50, so it wasn't a big loss on money. SoI would say yes. It actually has a ton of great games for it.

Yes, if you are not planning on getting a Wii go for it. I still play my gamecube and there are still a few games I want. Got a Wii on launch but got really bored really quickly and nothing good is out in the uk, so cash it in, but I kept my Gamecube so happy I did because it's excellent.

Yes, buy a GameCube. With the Game Boy Player, which is not compatible with the Wii,it also plays Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance games. Plus, it costs much less than the Wii.

Save for the Wii since you can run all the GC games on it.
