Hello everyone!
I wanted to ask is it the proper time for buying this console? considering the Nintendo isn't supporting it anymore? I want to have a taste of Zelda and Mario series, I mean those exclusive game on it which are all great! It has a lot of 'Harvest moon' games that is one of my favorites! :D
It's pretty cheap now, and I'm not gonna buy a Wii (although I know it's backward compatible with GC games!!)
SO... ?

I would say yes, if this is what you want. A year ago, I was in the same situation and I never regretted it. It gave me time to buy all the greatest games for the Cube for cheap. Like you're saying, many of these good games are exclusive to Nintendo (Mario, Zelda, Metroid, to name a few). So go for it, it is cheap, and if you ever change your mind in a few years (just like now, I guess) and decide to buy a Wii, you'll be glad you were able to snatch those good Gamecube games back then...

or you could buy a wii now and still get all the cheap games plus once you beat those, you can play the newer versions on the wii.

The best games are cheap... but make sure you can still find them. A year and a half ago, when I started my $20-gamecube-game-buying-spree, there were plenty of games to go around. Now a lot of them aren't available anymore.

The best games for the system are starting to get hard to find. I recommended getting it at a retailer and getting some game for it online.......

Well, sincce you're not going to buy a Wii (which would be the best choice) and you want to play Nintendo titles, you might as well go for it.

Yes. But get it fast, because Nintendo announced they aren't making any more GC or GC games. You're right, I just realized that it had a lot of Mario, Zelda, and Harvest Moon games...

I'm not getting a Wii because I think its control mechanism has ruined the whole gaming experience! just imagine playing Mortal Combat with the Wii remote! and trying to do some brutality moves!! :? but GC is something else! it has LOTS of unique games with a normal control scheme! I love it!!!

Take this from a Wii owner The Wii control scheme is really fun and innovative and you can also play every mario, and zelda game known to man because of the VC and backward commpatability, also the current gen of it too.

sry for double post,  the wii would def. be a good idea...as since ull get hooked on games like metroid / smash bros.....those games / sequels r comin on wii....and if u become a metroid fan..itll kill u not being able to play the third game of the series.  also, on a good note, smash bros wii will use a gameucbe controller / classic controller..so u don't have to worry about oddness in that game. don't foget the thousands of nes, snes, sega gen, turbo gfx, n64 games that are/ will be available via the virtual console...all that alone is  reason to buy a wii.  games like mario kart 64,super mario world, contra III, donkey kong country, link to the past are sure to impress...plus many others to come!

You should. You can use a normal gamcube controller to play Wii games. I haven't got a Wii yet so I can't really verify that, but I do got $250 just waitng for a Wii.

honestly though, who cares about nintendo not making them anymore. If you really cared about that, you wouldn't be asking these questions and just buying a WII, And besides, all the games that I wanted for gamecube are already made..........just because it recentlyl became an outdated model should make no difference, and you're a fool if you think that kind of thing is important. the fact is that gamecube is fun to play, and its really cheap right now, plus they have already made a **** of games for it. I actually just bought a gamecube 2 weeks ago, because I wanted to play Medal of honor, soul calibur and mariokart, and I haven't put the controller down yet.

The gamecube is great. If you want to add it to your console collection. However, I would invest in a Wii because you can play gamecube games on that as well.

Its usual that the time to buy a consol is at the begining or the end of its life. This is because at the begining you can see every good game on the horizon and never really have a problem completing them in your free time. At the end of its life yo can see all the good games and prioritise on the ones which are considered the best and their is a great wealth of knowledge amoung its fans who can give you advice. So in answer to your question, yes it is the time to purchase one if you havent already.

So, suffice to say, now would be the best time to scout out a Gamecube and buy it up!  Since you're not going to get a Wii, I would think you really should.  It's definitely good that you're looking for the Zelda and Mario series (I would recommend getting Wind Waker BEFORE Twilight Princess though, to get a taste of the uproar of "Woah, Zelda's cartoon!"), and I think it's awesome that you're into Harvest Moon (It's a Wonderful Life is good).  Yep, so definitely get the GC, the price should be low, and now that you won't have a bunch of crap to sort through, you should be able to pick from the cream of the crop!:D

Thanks everyone for your great comments! :) It seems that most of the people here say " Get the Wii"...... They convinced me to get it! so I decided to do that.....and I think It's a better deal... and for me another reason to buy the Wii is playing Harvest moon with the Wii remote!!! which can be pretty fun! but I'd surely get a GC controller for it to play those classic games......... That's all...............

It's not exactly the "proper time", as the console is now obviously out of the spotlight, but I see GameCubes with cords, controllers, and memory cards on eBay for $20-$35, and I know GameStop/EB Games sell them for $60 w/money back guarantee. Metroid Prime is six bucks, F-Zero is eight.. yeah, definitely a good idea to do it now, because the games are drying up.
