for me i'd have to say fox\falco, then marth and then bowser. bowsers awfully slow but for me really is good. I dont play with mario orb luigi often and if i do, i like doctor mario and throw medicine at people.
Its all about Falco, Great speed, a good mix of power and defence, you cant go wrong with him. My other two (i should say three cause one of them is two in one but) Ice Climbers and Dr.Mario. I know mario and Doc are almost the same but, he is just badass in his Black Jacket. and ice climbers, their power is stronger than some might think. But for me, its always Falco.
