Do you absolutly need a mac for college? The macbook pro your talking about would be the first version capable of running more modern games but only moderate gaming at best and wont look as good as ps3 games the next step up for over $2200 would.

if you don't need a mac then much much much better off getting the hp envy beats edition laptop whch has alot of good features powerful specs and great batterylife for under a grand it takes a mac book pro more then double the price to beat this. This is the one i'd get for myself if i had the money only thing its missing is a bluray drive and it would meet all my needs.

My advice is to avoid gaming laptops like the plague: they heat up like crazy and burning the graphic chipset means throwing the whole computer away. The way things are today, laptops are meant to be used for work and internet browsing

not worth it imo, macbooks aren't good for gaming, that's why most pc gamers use destops, it's also cheaper to buy a laptop for gaming then it is a macbooks, use your macbook for school and old pc games.
