Has anyone else noticed this latley? There are just wayyyy to many games out/comming out and i don't have the time to keep up. I'm married with a kid and of coarse i gotta work so my time to play games went down the drain over the past 4 or 5 years. When i was a kid i would play a game for months straight. I would learn it inside and out and i would master it. Now it seems like i will buy 1 game, play it and beat it but halfway through there is about 4 or 5 more games i want to buy. Now what? I can rarley make up my mind on what game to buy so i usually buy a couple of them...and 1 gets put up on my shelf in the original wrapping to never be opened. This has been going on with me for the past few years. I have a bunch of games still un opened and i just dont have the time to play them. I'm getting backed up over here!!!

It's funny because as i remember, when i was a kid i felt like i had a huge SNES collection. The other day i busted it out only to find about 7 or 8 games. But i played all of those games to death! It's not like that anymore. I have over 100 next gen games and no matter how good 1 game is today, i cant dedicate a ton of time to it. I tend to buy it, play through it once (maybe twice if its really something i like) and if it has good multiplayer i will keep it on my games that i am currently playing list for a bit and move on.

I do love collecting video game consoles and games so it's not a total loss for me. But there is still a part of me that missed playing some games that i really wanted to see. So for all you younger games enjoy the games while you have the time! 8)

I'm in the exact same boat, excpet I have 2 kids!!

I mostly play games at night after the wife and kids go to sleep, which in turn means I don't get much sleep. I also try to kick the wife out as much as possible :) "Honey, dont you have to go to the supermarket? Take the kids!" "Honey, why dont you take the kids to visit your mother?!"

I recently bought Mass Effect, Lost Odyssey, and Eye of Judgement. And I have a backlog of over 20 current-gen games that I said I will play through. I honestly don't know when I'm gonna play these. I also said wasnt gonna buy any more games until I at least finished one in my backlog. Except I know i will be buying Little Big Planet and Gears 2!

I understand. I have to study, and do lots of coursework. Gaming is the only thing that destresses me, yet I hardly play. I wish there were lots of good PSP games, instead of 360 and PS3.

Thats hilarious because i told myself the same thing and i just pre ordered Lil Big Planet and Gears 2 the other day! I also got a 2nd kid on the way, due November 12th so that means my gaming time will be cut even shorter. The only good thing about them being so young is i get to play at night when they are asleep. My son just turned 1 and sleeps fine through the night im hoping the 2nd one is the same because right now night is the only time i have to play games.

What sucks even more is having games from the Gamecube, Saturn, Dreamcast, 360, PS2 and PC libraries, not only from this generation, but from previous generations to play.

This is my list of games that I have that I haven't played yet:
  • Killer7 (PS2)
  • Persona 3: FES (PS2)
  • Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne (PS2)
  • Timesplitters (PS2)
  • Dead or Alive Extreme 2 (360)
  • Sneak King (360)
  • The Darkness (360)
  • Duke Nukem 3D (XBLA)
  • Ikaruga (XBLA)
  • Mega Man 9
  • The Ultimate Doom (XBLA)
  • Clockwork Knight 2 (SAT)
  • Myst (SAT)
  • Virtua Cop 2 (SAT)
  • Wipeout (SAT)
  • Chrono Cross (PS)
  • Parasite Eve (PS)
  • Skullmonkeys (PS)
  • Xenogears (PS)
  • MDK2 (DC)
  • Resident Evil: Code Veronica (DC)
  • Shenmue (DC)
  • Sonic Adventure (DC)
  • Soul Calibur (DC)
  • Triggerheart Exelica (DC)
  • Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem (GC)
  • F-Zero GX (GC)
  • P.N.03 (GC)
  • Super Mario Sunshine (GC)
  • The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (GC)
  • Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (PSP)
  • Taiko no Tatsujin (PSP)
  • Day of the Tentacle (PC)
  • Deus Ex (PC)
  • Deus Ex: Invisble War (PC)
  • Fallout (PC)
  • Fallout 2 (PC)
  • Grim Fandango (PC)
  • Planescape: Torment (PC)
  • System Shock 2 (PC)
  • The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall (PC)
  • The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (PC)
  • The Neverhood (PC)
  • Thief: The Dark Project (PC)
  • Thief II: The Metal Age (PC)
  • Thief: Deadly Shadows (PC)

And I go to university and work part time... and I barely have time to play games as it is, just imagine if I were to get involved with a woman. I finished a good deal of my list over the summer (about 12-15 games) but then have added tons of games in the last couple months and just came back to where I started.

Congratulations, man!!

I really don't see any other time when I can play and not neglect everyone, including the wife. There are times on the weekend when we just bum around and I think to myself "man, I could be playing something now", but then the Mrs. would be left alone to be bored. A lot of my buddies' wives complain about their gaming, mine doesn't, so I guess I'm doing the right thing :) Besdies, they're just games.......right?

Foxhound, great list! My list is about the same size (I also have GC< PS2, and XBox games). To make it worse, I've been talking myself out of buying some good last-gen games that I missed out on. Otherwise, my list would easily be twice as long!

i typically buy a game, play about half way through it and then another game comes out that i want. so then i buy that game and never finish the other one. sometimes i only play the game for like 1 or 2 days before buying another one and abandoning that game.

List of games started but not finished (in the last couple years):

Metroid Prime
Metroid Prime 2
Metroid Prime 3
Super Mario Sunshine
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Paper Mario
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Halo 3
Gears of War
The Orange Box
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
Motor Storm
Army of Two
Metal Gear solid 4
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Grand Theft Auto IV
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Assassin's Creed
Braid

The last couple were relatively new purchases so they probably shouldn't count. I did play through Ratchet and Clank Future: TOD 2 or 3 times. The sad thing is that I'm thinking about purchasing another game. it's an addiction!!
