There's a way to make game guides appealing again, well, at least to me. If they add a soundtrack or better yet, a huge section of concept art, sketches, etc., than I'd get a guide for my favorite games. But the art section has to be extensive and not a few pages of material.

I don't know about that. Newspapers are still around, after all. Game guides still have the advantage when it comes to portability.

Well for me there are some games I still prefer to get the retail guidebook for and it can be for any number of reasons such as portability, first with all the info so I don't have to wait for someone to write up a faq, may have some cool extra info, I like the artwork, more convienent, etc.

I diffiantly like having a guide book for some games, portability is good. But for a majority of games, its not needed, internet FAQs will suffice.

I totally agree. Although I have a game guide book that was so very very helpful I love it. It was nicer than an interet guide, but obviously I had to pay for it. I also found it a bit easier

i dont need a guide. I play games for the challenge of beating it myself.

If I have to choose: internet, it is free.

The game guides on the net are much more detailed and interactive.

Honestly, I don't really like using FAQs, partially because I don't have available internet on the computer in my room, coupled with only dial-up for the time being. I actually own three guides just for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time just because I enjoyed the game so much. And The Morrowind Prophecies was a great read even as a standalone book, let alone a guide.
