I think it's cool when they put real people in video games.

I meant graphically.

Last gen was a great gen, but this gen is terrible. So I agree with your statement in part.

@sonic_spark:

So far this gen of what I played so far, The demo of Ratchet & Clank(The Boss Battle) is just one of only a few games that I played that blew me away graphic wise.

And yes I just beat The Order this week.

Yeah I see this more as a testament on how far video games have came. Would have been much better had the video contain... well videos so we can see the evolution of animation and cloth physics as well. I can't imagine what games will look like in the next 20. Maybe then we will finally figure out how to model clothes without looking like it's hovering an inch over the body lol

I'll admit that there is a long time ago since I had the same kinda fun playing a game as I had when I first played Super Mario Bros on NES and a Donkey Kong game on SNES... Closest might be Dark Souls games or Demon's Souls... But I will not say that games 20 years ago were better than today. Although certain games today are released with far to many bugs and glitches, and I have a somewhat love/hate relationship with DLC.

What 360/PS3/Wii/WiiU/PS4/Xone game completely destroys a NES-PS2 game?

Isn't this rather subjective? I have already given an answer. An answer you most likely disagree with, the first Bioshock game is another possible answer. When I first played a game on NES I had no idea how much fun it would, no expectations for the games to meet. Today they are high... Sometimes to high.

I think GTA V is an excellent game, yet I like GTA Vice City more. And yet you can't even swim in that game...

Anyhow this is Off Topic so I am moving this thread to games discussions @suavehooper

@horgen: That's a good point. I have a feeling younger people (I'm almost 30) would say games today are better (even if we disagree), but I am also not liking many of the games this generation, especially on console.

@csward: @horgen:

But aren't today's youth interested mainly into COD/FPS?

But I'm mainly talking about the people who played games during NES-PS2 (or before that)

Horgen bought up and GTA, I still haven't played GTA5 yet but I have 4. But in your case you said like Vice City(2002) more than 5(2013), why is that? It's seems the only beef you had with Vice City is the ability to swim.

A lot of games had bugs/glitches in them during the NES/SNES days, biggest difference is with the advent of the internet, and patches, you can fix those bugs/glitches now.

What games you speaking of? Yes modern games could be patched via the internet, but publishers are really taking advantage of that as they know they can release a buggy/glitchy game but patch it later.

What games had glitches in them during the NES/SNES days? The better question, and shorter list would be which ones DIDN'T. Is that really the question you asked? Which games had glitches?

No it wasn't. There were some games that have brilliantly stood the test of time, but there was plenty of shit that came out along side of it.

So you're going to ignore the more shit that came the last 10 years? And the best games you bring up I'm pretty sure dealt with bugs and glitches.

The ratio of quality to the total quantity of games has improved. And those quality games have improved markedly as well.

Games like Super Metroid were still loaded with glitches, despite being considered some of the best of all time. Now Nintendo releases games that barely have a problem mechanically with them, polished to a mirror sheen.

The ratio of quality games far exceeds the bad(NES-PS2)

You mentioned Nintendo, but what about every one else?

That's why they're Nintendo.

Nintendo are the premiere game developers. No company releases games with the level of polish Nintendo does.

Yeah...

I'm not even going to get involved with this discussion. I'd probably lose it. Everyone has there opinion, but please don't say that gaming was "oh so much better 20 years ago".
