With Illusion behind it this should be good. I'm so glad they didn't hire some unknown dev to make a sequel which just wouldn't do the name justice.inoperativeRS
Considering that Mafia is a fully owned Illusion Softworks IP, that was never an option.
Anyway, Mafia was a truly great game with some questionable design choices. I hope that Mafia 2 will retain the fantastic firefights and storytelling of the original, but also significantly expand on its open-endedness.
Here's the best screen:

I didn't know that tbh. Considering Illusion supposedly is working on some PC TPS as well I was almost sure I'd see some unknown name developing this one. A pleasant surprise, that's for sure.

Yeah, Illusion is actually a pretty big company with approx. 200 employees spread out over 4 development teams and an external subsidiary Pterodon (Vietcong series) which is handling the development of the FPS (reportedly, it's the slightly forgotten Enemy in Sight) you're talking about.

That's the one. Spotted it on Adrians list of upcoming PC games a few months ago and pretty much gave away all hope of seeing a new Mafia because of that.
Can't Wait!
Mafia is still one of my favorite action games, the PC version was an amazing game....and the story was one of the best out there.
Judging by the screens, I'm guessing this one takes place circa the late 1940's.
Why does the main character look like Tommy Angelo though, seems a little odd, especially given the ending of the first Mafia.

Agreed. It was an excellent game but I really hope they take a small step back from some of the realism this time around. Obeying the speed limit, traffic lights, and the plentiful+relentless police force made the roaming areas quite frustrating at times.
