So my 32x has all but stopped working. It works every tenth time I try it with some games an doesn't work ever with others. I have cleaned both the system, genesis and the games with contact cleaner. I have even pulled the system apart and ensured the notoriously finicky cables are connected. Also I should say that the genesis works fine w. normal genesis games. Any suggestions on how to bring it back to life?

It could be as simple as the small cable that connects the 32x to the Sega, or it could be the 32x as a whole is shot.

I should also say that with every game a screen pops up and says something to the effect of the game being licensed by sega. Just most of the time it doesn't get passed this screen.

Sometimes with old systems, you have to take them apart and physically clean the chips on them.

What do you mean by physically cleaning the chips?

Take the system apart and clean the pins where the cartridges connect to. A pin may even be broken or dislodged.

Use a small amount of rubbing alcohol on a soft wash cloth on it and/or Q-Tips for the small areas. I'd also suggest doing this to the Genesis cartridge slot in addition to the 32X slot and the 32X where it connects in the Genesis slot. And I'd even suggest doing this to all your Genesis and 32X game cartridges where the game connects to the console.

Q-tips are the best thing to use to clean the connecters. Not contact cleaner.
