i recently hooked back up my 32X but for some reason the picture doesnt show when the sega genesis rf out cord is plugged in, and when its not plugged in it shows green colors in the place of white colors, whats causing this? is it the cord? or is it the 32X?

Maybe your onboard 32x chip is going bad.

Try replacing your rf cable (you never know)

I used to own one...trying to think. Isn't there a cord that connects the 32x to the genesis (in addition to sitting on top of it)? ...or is that just for the 32x cd

Yep. There should be a power cord and A/V cord coming out of the Genesis itself, as always. There should also be a power cord coming from the 32X (2 in total). As well as a cord coming from the 32X and going into the Genesis. Do you have all that?

If you do have all that, first I'd try another game, it could just be the game. Or clean that game out and see if it works.

If that doesn't work, try wiggling the unit around to make sure it's securely connected, and then try the same thing with all the wire connections. Finally, I'd try blowing out and cleaning the game connection points on both the Genesis and 32X.

If you still have problems after trying everything, then I'm sorry.

The A/V cord is actually supposed to go from the 32x to the TV and not from the Genesis. If you want to hook up a Sega CD on the other hand, you use the Genesis A/V out.

well first you gotta make sure everything is hooked up right. theres the patch cable from the genesis to the 32x. both AC adapters, and the AV cable going from the 32x to the tv. there's the metal clip things that go inside the genesis (at least they are required for the genesis model1 i have). the cable that gives the most trouble for me is the patch cable. Its VERY hard to find and kinda expensive. if that cable isnt connected just right, the polygon graphics sometimes disapear in games like Virtua Racing and all you see is the background and you hear the sound effects. I recently had to disonnect my 32x and put it away because the patch cable is just too worn out and isnt worth the hassle. I have to fiddle with the joint where the 2 cables meet , total pain in my butt. however when it is all working great, I love playing my 32x games. There are a few gems only available on 32x (Kolibri, Stawars Arcade, and Shadow Squadron) that make it worth owning.

right! thats exactly whats happening, the backgrounds don't show in the games, and the part of the game that isnt made of polygons show up green colored...

That is exactly 100% the problem. The metal clip is only needed for the model 1 Genesis, but the other cable that connects them .... without that, the 32X is useless.

Do you have a Model 1 Genesis? If so, yes. But if you don't have the cable to connect the Genesis and 32X together, it wouldn't matter either way because it won't work without that. I suggest watching this video for all your 32X information
