3D Final Fantasy games worth playing?

I was never all that interested in the Final Fantasy series but recently I bought X-HD on a whim and have been enjoying it so far, especially the battle system. Are there other 3D FF games that are worth playing?

Definitely check out the PS1 games (VII-IX). I think that IX is the best and probably the most overlooked. I thought the series started going downhill with X, which I still enjoyed.

9 is fantastic. 7 is good as well. 8 is about 50/50 with fans. I stopped playing 8 after about 4 days. That's basically it from my view. 9 being my favorite.

Maybe I should jump on VII to see what all the hype is about. From both your replies, it's safe to say IX is a winner.

I didn't care for VIII either, but like you said, it seems to be a "love/hate" game. Better to leave it for TC to try out and see for himself.

I say try pretty much all of the rest. VII and VIII are excellent, XII and the XIII trilogy are quite good, and IX and XV are ok as well.

FFVII and FFVIII and great. FFIX is ok. FFX is great especially blitzball games lol. FFXII was cool. FFXIII was pretty much trash with great graphics and great voice acting. I still really liked it tho tbh. That's just the popular consensus. The consensus also said FFXV is trash but I loved it. Tbh they're all worth a try. I really like 7, 8, and 10, tho.

I think it's hard to get a consensus from fans of the series on their favorite games. My take, which is so much different from the posters above, is that 6 and 7 are very solid games but indeed overrated (well 7 was overrated, nowadays it's not talked about so much), 5 is pretty good, almost on par with 6, 8 is the best in the series, 10 is the second best and Lightning Returns makes top 5 (although I agree that 13 is mediocre). 9 I couldn't play more than a dozen hours. It felt like a step back in the direction the series was talking and I disliked most of the protagonists.

Bottom line, barring 1, 2 and 13 (and 10-2) any of the others have the potential to be games you like.

@pug987: I completely agree with your opinion of FFVIII. I love FFVII but I'm like the only one that prefers FFVIII more and didn't really like FFIX all that much. I still finished it, tho but I'll probably never play it again.

Love 8 more than 7 and 9

I think X is my favorite. But if you have the means (a GameCube and 4 GBA's) give Crystal Chronicles a shot.

7-9 are good, and I really liked 12. 12 had a different combat system, but I thought it was great. 11 sucked, 13 sucked balls (as well as all it's iterations), 14 was some dumb mmo (so was 11), and 15 turned out to be a heaping pile of crap, despite my wishes. It has good combat, graphics and world, but the characters are uninteresting angst-riddled teenage snapchat dipshits. Also, there's not a single chick on the main team, which bothered me, and not in an SJW type way. All the guys are running around on a road trip, making light of the situation... which was essentially the Empire rolling into town and enslaving and oppressing everyone. The story was handled poorly I thought. Okay, I'll stop... this turned into a rant. Oh yeah, I don't like 10 anymore either. I loved it as a kid, but now I can't stand it... or maybe it's just Titus I can't stand. I'm getting too old.
