Why the hell does King Koopa even kidnap the Princess? What's the point?

I dunno. The games are fun, so I just accept the fact that I play as a middle-aged italian plumber with superhuman leg strength in a land of mushrooms where everything has eyes where I have to save a princess with questionable heritage (is she a toad?) from a giant mutant turtle whose only purpose in life is to kidnap princess' and not actually do anything once he has her.

I'm still trying to figure out what the hell this thing is...

I don't have time to question Bowser's motives.

Him and Peach have a son together. He's just trying to get the family back together.

Duh! He's trying to turn the Mushroom Kingdom from a democracy to a dictatorship where he reigns king. You'd think after the first Super Mario Bros. that the princess would employ at least a BIT of heightened security.

To make a plot for the games.

Legendaryscmt

Basically. That's like asking why any initial event of any game takes place.

I think he understands what a plot is. He's asking about the big guy's motivation for kidnapping her. I'm partial to the sex slave idea

Exactly. I just don't understand how it furthers his domination of The Mushroom Kingdom.

He's removing the leader of the Kingdom, sending the toads into a disarray. If he was smart enough to take power after he stole her, instead of waiting for Mario to show up, he'd have taken over the Kingdom in Super Mario Bros. Basically, he's following the Underwear Gnomes plan.

2. ???

3.P̶r̶o̶f̶i̶t̶ Domination of Mushroom Kingdom

I always figured Peach was running away from an abusive Mario. Just look at Mario's abusive tendencies, all these friendly smiling turtles and their friends are just walking around and Mario runs up and jumps on them. Then when King Koopa tries to protect the princess Mario throws his big old butt into lava, real nice guy.

He is just evil for the sake of it. Like those Captain Planet villians who build factories that create pollution and nothing else.

It's an alegory on the "dragon-guards-princess-hero-must-save-her". Same with Zelda. You know, fairy tales and stuff...

He has a point, even some games older than SMB (excluding the PC because that's an unfair advantage.) on consoles had simpler games that had reasons. But maybe Bowser Jr. has a purpose after all.

Bowser was bullied in school when he was young, and now he bullies people back.

He takes pleasure in your pain.

She's the princess, not the Queen or King, hence not the leader.

But in Zelda, there was a point. She was of the ancient bloodline which Gannon was attempting to use to break the seal that imprisoned him in the Dark World.

She is the de facto leader of the Mushroom Kingdom. The term is just a title.

Their is no King of the Mushroom Kingdom.

He's too stupid to actually run the kingdom, Peach does all the work (I did read the comics when I was a kid. My brother owns them all). Plus they are non-canon.

I always put it down to jealousy. You kow, a kind of "If I can't have her nobody can" kind of attitude. That and, as some people have said, a sex slave!

Because she was outside of the kitchen, it is Mario's punishment for letting her out. :DDDDDDD

Maybe the person that kidnaps the leader of the mushroom kingdom, becomes the new leader?
