For me, it was Tales of Symphonia.

I had told my mom to StarFox Assault for me when she went to block buster. She didn't end up getting it because it wasn't available and, out of all the child-oriented games available, rented Tales of Symphonia instead(ironic since said mom was hardcore Christian and detested even the slightest anime-like appearences).

I now have my mom to thank for letting me experience one of the best JRPG's out there and getting interested in JRPG's as a whole.

Well I wouldn't call it a mistake but when I was younger I wished for a Playstation, I specifically mentioned that I didn't want a N64. Well, I got a N64 because the shop recommended it for my parents because N64 was more kid friendly. A few days before my birthday I snuck into a hidden room and found out they had bought the N64 anyway and got kinda sad. So when they gave it to me I was trying to act happy but was still a bit sad but I really did end up loving my first game Super Mario 64. But yeah, I mostly wanted the PS because I wanted to play those rpgs my friends always talken about but my english was so back then that time I had my mom translate everything in Super Mario 64 so I doubt I could've handled those PS rpgs I wanted.

I had the opposite. I wanted a n64 really bad but got a playstation :(. I still to this day wish I had gotten an n64 instead. It's alright though because I eventually got one in 6th grade.

My friend is a total Marvel-fanboy, so he bought MvC3 earlier this year. I was not interested but he also made me buy it somehow. He played it for 3 hours and got bored, regretting the purchase. I had fun with it for quite a while.

I'm really confused how you can accidentally buy a wii-balance board instead of a bathroom scale.

When I was younger, I asked my dad to get me Simpsons: Road Rage, but got confused and got me Simpsons: Hit and Run instead. I LOVED it.
