I remember playing this and i'm pretty sure you only need a controller man.

You just need a GC controller. The GBA/Link up was simply for multiplayer purposes (which was really baffling to be honest).

the multiplayer wasn't baffling... it was stupid. if you have 3 other friends who all have gbas and link cables you can go on a quest to get rid of the miasma. and each one of you will be able to tell where something is located... be it treasure, enemies, magic, etc. if you have no friends... or no gbas then you can play alone... sadly... with the controller, but you will NEED 3 friends and 4 gbas and 4 link cables to get all of the goodies to level you character up to the max. you don't ever really level up in ffcc, you get stuff that makes you stronger, faster, more defensive, etc.

I meant baffling as in stupid as in why did they even think of doing this? :P

still a good game to play though... and i imagine that it would be fun if you had 3 other friends who had gbas and link cables. but i beat it by myself... relatively challenging, fulfilling for a moment if nothing else.
