Did you know what happened to the citizens of Mario World?

"Many years after the Shroob invasion and Donkey Kong's conquest, King Bowser led his first devastating attack against the Mushroom Kingdom. Using Dark Koopa magic, Bowser transformed many of the kingdom's citizens into blocks, Mushrooms, and other objects. However, when Bowser discovered that Princess Peach had the power to undo his curse on the citizens, he captured her and seven of her closest Mushroom Retainers, imprisoning them in eight castles scattered across the kingdom.
