What game modes does it offer?
And does each character have different story/arcade endings? Or just one story ending for everyone?

Ya my gamespot has really slim pickings for 2D fighters on ps2. I wanted King of Fighter 11 first, but they didn't have it, and still don't. Then I wanted Guilty Gear xx Accent Core Plus, and they still don't have it. I found Capcom vs SNK (I really like SNK fighters) but I wasn't sure if it was like Marvel vs. Capcom so I didn't buy it. Mvs.C is a terrible game IMO.
I might be forced to get it because that's all they have for 2D fighters.

Capcom vs SNK 1 and 2 are nothing like MvC. And there are no individual endings on the game. There are many grooves in CvS2 to choose from that changes how matches go. It's a fun game and I recommend it. You won't be disappointed in CvS2...it's more down to earth than MvC2 and leans more on the SNK side of things.
