Almost every popular game or series of the present (World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy, Halo series, etc.)
Most sports games
Any Mortal Kombat game after MK4 (N64)
Almost every Nintendo "mascot" game (Metroid series, Donkey Kong series, etc.)
As we speak, I'm playing Goldeneye (N64) for the first time
I hadn't played a video game until I was 7 (1996) and my parents never gave me allowance. Those two factors play a big part in the lack of popular games in my list.
I bought GTA3 the day it came out, played it for about 3 or 4 hours, then traded it in for MGS2 cause I hated it.
I never played it again till I bought a used Xbox version after playing through and loving Vice City and San Andreas. Go figure.
I've also never made it more than a couple of hours in Half-Life 1, and I never really "got" the whole Splinter Cell games. I've played just about every one, just always lost interest 3 or 4 hours in.
I haven't played any of the Resident Evil games prior to RE4 - though I'm not sure if I'm embarassed about that. Part of me is a bit glad, actually.
Same with the Shenmue series, especially with the mad praise it gets on these forums once in a while. It comes and goes in spurts, but the general consensus is that the first game is awesome. I think it's about hot sailors and forklifts or something.
Other than a brief bit of time with the Megaman collection I have not spent more than half an hour with any one Megaman game. I didn't play them at all when they were originally released. Granted, I was a PC gamer way back in the day, but that's still no excuse.
Metal Gear: Snakes Revenge, even though it wasn't made by Hideo Kojima.. or anyone from Konami and is not directly related to any of the previous, or future games. Under these circumstances the only real game I can think of is probably the original Resident Evil, never got a chance to play that, yet I've played all the Resident Evil related games afterwards.
The ones I actually kinda regret never trying....
Baldur's Gate
Baldur's Gate II
Starcraft
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Company of Heroes
Rez
Warcraft RTS games
World of Warcraft
Arcanum
X-Com
Tie Fighter
Thief II
Any Metal Gear Solid game
Any Battlefield game
Any Civization game
Any Ratcher & Clank game
Any Total War game
River City Ransom
Guitar Hero
Banjo Kazooie
The Sims
Soul Calibur
Shenmue games
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (I gave up on the series after Pandora Tomorrow)
Oh man I missed a ton of stuff in the 1990s -- not as much money, not as much interest and not as much time to play over that span. I've gone back to play a lot but there's still a long list. Street Fighter II, Baldur's Gate I&II, Super Mario Kart, Fallout 1&2, Planescape: Torment, System Shock 1 & 2, X-Com, Soul Calibur, Diablo II, Deus Ex, Grim Fandango, Metal Gear Solid, any Tekken game, any Gran Turismo game, and more recently I'd say Gears of War and Bioshock. That's just off the top of my head. I have most of those and have played bits and pieces of most of them, but not nearly enough.
Well I haven`t played these games hardly or ever and I don`t know if I`m reallymissing out much.
Gran Turismo 1,2 & I never finished playing GT4.
Call of Duty 1. No good videocard in this piece of sh*t PC.
Capcom Vs SNK 1.
Castlevania 2 & 3. Just couldn`t get around to buying or renting them when I was younger.
Virtual Fighter 2. No Saturn.:(
Sonic CD.
.....and many more.
