Eternal Sonata almost got me going, but too many scenes were overly melo-dramatic to really get to me.
MGS4 didn't get to me. After what MGS3 did, MGS4 wasn't as emotional.
Shadow Hearts Covenant really got me good, which wouldn't have happened if I didn't play first Shadow Hearts.
FFX ending was almost there.
Panzer Dragoon Saga ending also almost got me.
Suikoden V also almost got me, but pacing didn't allow it. It didn't hit fast and hard enough.
yeah FFX was almost there... or maybe I did cry that single tear (like they do in the movies)... but considering I'm not really a dude in touch with his emotions a single tear is a huge achievement for the game... I was really sad at the end...
Obviously not as sad as, when I was a 10yo kid reading LOTR, *ZOMG-HUGE-SPOILER-EVER*Gandalf falling from the stone bridge after fighting the Balrog.. I was totally crying like a girl on a romantic movie and saying under my breath "nooo Gandaaaalf whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy???" sad times... but then he comes back more bad*** than before kicking some major orc butt so everything was ok...
* I know is not a spoiler since everyone of you read the books or watched the movies and don't even try to deny it8)
heh yeah ^^ usualy if something sad or bad happens in a game that you can relate to, there is a chance of sheading a tear or two.
Most games just cant grasp the straw.
That said I did cry at DOW1 but of different reasons, Ive grown up with wh40k, and always imagined how that world would look like, sure there had been other games on the 40k license, but tbh they were not very good.
So there I were looking at the intro, it was really like seeing some long lost family member, I were so happy that it felt and looked "right"
so I acturally did cry... was so odd, it was not sadness, nor happyness, more of a relief...
On a sidenote Gundam Seed made me cry like a baby -.-
I haven't cried from any video games, but there are a few games that made me tear up.
Metal Gear Solid 3 (too many scenes to name), one specific scene at the end of Halo 3, Killer 7, and Metal Gear Solid 2.
Quite the opposite for me. :PBooks... yes
movies... yes
games... no (inferior product oh noez)
sniper Wolf had the best death dialogue and the music was beautiful... Gray Fox was just kind of cool how he went out. I kind of felt bad for Otacon cause he gets screwed over the most in MGS and MGS2.
Yes, I admit i had misty eyes at Emma's death in MGS2, on top of Arsenal revelations, at the very end of MGS3, and almost burst into tears in many, many scenes from MGS4, involving Eva - "I only get off my bike when i fell in love or fall dead", Naomi's farewell, Snake Vs Ocelot - all my feelings were litterally soaring, Otacon & Sunny at the wedding, throughout the Debriefing, when Big Boss collapses in front of Big Boss grave and finaly realises what is all about, and frankly many more scenes mainly from MGS4. Such an emotionaly charged experience that movies simply do not provide.
Another story that got to me in such a way that i was sad for like a week, was the anime Grave of the fireflies (Hotaru no haka), and the fact that was based on a true story made it all the more heart breaking.
A game has never mad me cry. Games still aren't that good at giving gamers emotions beyond fear, frustation and anger. The MGS4 Microwave Tunnel sequence did (and still is) leave a lasting impression on me. The most intense moment I've ever played through. But I was nowhere near crying during that scene.
I've stopped keeping track of the games, movies and television shows that make me cry. I am an emotional guy who is in touch with his feelings... so obviously if something is sad, touching or beautiful I am going to cry.
My favourite crying moment has always been the ending of Shadow of the Colossus. I've beaten the game 11 times and it still gets me every time.istuffedsunny
The floating in space scene in FF8 was a real tear jerker.dr-bonesHuh? That scene didn't even come close for me.
I'm more emotionally attached to movies than video games or even life. I have a hard time following the story to become attached to it. Although, I do get that warm fuzzy feeling every time an amazing intro comes on.. nod to Final Fantasy IX music.jjtiebuckleAgreed. Movies still are better at getting people more emotional and games have a long way to go to even think about beating movies and I say they will probably never get there.
