Hey all, Ive been using Goozex for a little while and think its great, as long as the game youre trading (ie you are mailing your old game to someone else) has a relatively high point value in their trading system. This is because it costs about five bucks US to send a game anywhere. That gets tricky with games that are only worth five bucks in trade value; sometimes you spend just over $5US to get $5 in return. What it means to me is that instead of an outright trade,I still spend $5 on a $5 game; I couldve done that and kept my old game....hell for that type of trade, Ill take it into Gamestop for the $0.75 theyll give me!!

My question is: does anyone use another trading site that is more P2P direct trading, or do you have another way of getting the most trade-in value from your old, low-value games?? Any advice, or is that pretty much just the way depreciation works? Thanks y'all

ps sorry for not editing myself mo better the first time...

Ebay. A store owned by Hollywood Video called "Gamecrazy" gives rates based on the number of a certain title it has. So even if you'd only get $1.00 at Gamestop or Ebay, you might get more or less depending on how many copies the company has of that game. That's how it used to be, anyway. I haven't been there in a while.

Trading in lower value games never felt worth it, so I stopped doing it. If I really want to get rid of a game like that, I'll sell it on eBay. Some times it doesn't sell the first time, but eventually it does, and always more than I would get for trading it in.

Looking around more, this seems to be it. Thanks for the input; I think Ill try that...Worse case scenario means a bigger game collection, right? At least with Ebay the buyer pays shipping....

Are you exceeding a certain size package with those games you're sending? I've done a fair bit of Goozex trading and many of the games I've received from the US only cost about $2.50 regular postage. Here in Canada if you keep the envelope size roughly equal to a DVD case it only costs $2 to mail in Canada and another dollar or so to the US. But if you go over that it quickly jumps to $5 or $6 as it moves out of the light packet price bracket and into parcels. It's silly, but workable if you use snug envelopes. Otherwise, yeah, as you mentioned the shipping costs negate any benefit you might otherwise get by selling 100-200 point games.

I don't usually trade my games at EB games, no matter what game it is they always rip you off. Just try selling the games on ebay or something.

I do use the smallest envelopes possible...I think one thing is that if the game doesnt have to have case and manual, I just wont send it from now on. Sometimes the manual and case must push the weight over the 12 0z standard mail limit. I need to just get my butt down to the PO too, because I think Goozex overestimates weights and overcharges for the "print your own label" thing...

Thanks!
