I'm so worry about the combat system, it seems not like a Final Fantasy game.

it's the only Final Fantasy game that actually looks like it will have fun combat.
Agreed
It looks like mindless button smashing to win and the worse of call the FF game out there.
Most of Final Fantasy is just button mashing. You only need strategy for boss fights.

Well if you feel like than why would you say it looks fun when it seem like you can just button mash the bosses as well. Bosses in the Tales of ... games can be defeated by button masshing. I like the Tale of ... games but the combat is not as fan as older final fantasy games. Even if you are under level to what people expect.
Looks better than 13 at the very least. Looks like Kingdom Hearts combat and I can't look down at that. Definitely looking forward to this game more now.

I never said I didn't like button mashing. Final Fantasy has always had really dull turn based combat. You have so little control over what is happening, so it ends up being super boring. The fact that FF15 gives you direct control over movement, attacks, dodging etc. looks a lot more engaging.
All the previews are saying that FF15 isn't a button masher anyway. I doubt you can just hold down the attack button and win normal fights. You'll need at least a little finesse with the dodging and teleporting. Most FF games are purely stat based, and thats why they ends up being a button masher for all the normal fights. FF15 doesn't look like it will have that problem. However, i'll judge for myself when the demo arrives on the 17th, I'm sure I'll like it.

I find that the exact opposite happens with those type of games. Many times I find it just turns into fighting samy enemies using the same method and the bosses are the same with more life. Many times it turn not a mindless button masher which is my problem with all of the Tales of games. They are a bit to shallow and simple and not engaging at all.
Like like having to change who I need to win and not button mash which is why I like the older FF games become you can not button mash you way to victory. Coming up with strategies and changing them during the fights in a deep and rich way I was I like about the older FF games and it look like FFXV is just shallow. Maybe if I played one game that played like FFXV that was engaging then I would be a bit more open minded but I have yet seen one that engaging.
Many times the that type of combat in a JRGP leads to one strategy beats and and it then becomes a game of stats.

So it is bad, because they are doing something different? I think it is good, but I am not sold on some of the aspects of it, mainly the lack of character switcthing and regenerating mp.

You can't button mash bosses in Tales games. What Tales games have you played? You'll get your ass kicked if you try that. I'm not disagreeing in regards to FF XV though.
Reminds me of star ocean till the end of time. Which isn't a bad thing just not the best. I'll wait till the pc version to make my final call on it though.

Tales of the Abyss
Tales of Legendia
Tale of Vesperia
Tales of Xilia
Tales of Graces F
Tales of Symphonia & Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the New World
I beat them all while avoiding grinding.
It seems to me that SE is trying to turn my beloved FF into a hack in slash style game so i'm sure anyone that's into that genre of gaming will enjoy this. Likewise modern hack in slash games now have RPG elements to them as well so in a weird way the line between the to genre's is a little blurred to me. Will i try the game? yes, but I think I'll wait till it's on sale. I still feel a little burned on 13 so I'll wait strictly on principle.

Congratulations. You still can't button mash bosses. I could go into all kinds of reasons but all I have to say is that you can't stun most bosses, therefore you can't mash them.

It not much better. I find there is no need for any real strategy in the tales of games even against the bosses.
I might be the only one that thinks this way, but I tend not to care for the 3rd person style viewpoints in these games. It looks to action oriented. We've got 1080p 16:9 displays as the norm and a top downish view could benefit from that. It allows for better puzzle implementation and even if the game is an action-rpg it could support more players, a wider view, and overall more tactical combat.
For all of the issues 13 had, it was still a whole lot better than Kingdom Hearts. The combat in this game seems an awful lot like Kingdom Hearts, so I'm expecting this to be the worst game in the series, spinoffs included.
I'm loving everything about the game except for the character design. Not because it's awful because it really isn't, it's just that is not to my liking at all.
These are nice videos that go me hype.

not button mashing at all since everything from normal attacks, evasion, magic uses MP. When you're out of MP you have to stop attacking for it to be replenished but if you take cover the MP gauge fills up faster.
Everyone that played the game at Pax said they were blown away by how good the combat in the game was and it's still not even finished yet. Some people described it like a turn-based action game because even though the game's action you can't simply push the button to attack, you first need to wait for the animation to be finished before continuing the combo. So in that sense is not like DMC and more like FF Type-0 but with much more depth. And you can customize the combos by changing the position of the weapons too. There's lots of customization in the game including a gambit system ala FF12 and many other things like phantom swords, team attacks, parry, stagger, summons (have not been shown yet), etc.
Here are the people of IGN salivating all over the FFXV demo:

Somebody on that team played Uncharted 2.
I feel like game is going to be trash, a last ditch effort to appeal to the West by SE.

What difficulty did you play the Tales games on?
HeavenSward looks better imo. It's quite remarkable, not just in how much the game was turned around, but the amount of solid content they have been producing; i'm very optimistic about this expansion.
I don't like the way the main guy pulls sword out of hammer space constantly. Prefer him to have a consistent weapon or just do martial arts. It looks clunky and for some reason I can't help but think 'lazy' on the animation department. Not something I would normally say in a FF game.
Still want to believe it will get ff back on track. As for the gameplay, it is meh-ish so far. Would have preferred an old-school turn-based one, but we'll see about it. What worries me most is that it kinda seems like a fusion between GTA and older FF games. And while I enjoy it when a game gives you a lot of possibilities, something like that would just make it bloated and have the individual features turn out worse than they need be.

LOL at those character designs. It looks like DELETED SCENES from a Corey Feldman movie circa 1997

So harder difficulty allow me to control more of the party?
From what I've seen so far, the combat animations are really awkward - as if the protagonist is swinging his sword underwater - and nobody's attacks seem to have any weight to them (especially noticeable in the behemoth video, since that thing should absolutely trample the tiny people beneath it). Plus your allies don't seem to do anything in the videos I've seen, but perhaps there's some strategy to them later on.
So yeah, all of those things are bad signs for a game with hack'n'slash combat. If they don't improve before launch, I could see this being critically panned.
@wiouds: Have you played DMC 1/2/3/4 and the reboot ?
Have you played Bayonetta 1/2 ?
Have you played a Ninja Gaiden game before ?
Have you played Tekken or Dead or Alive ?
What about Mortal Kombat ?
They are all button mashers.... And they are awesome games.
There is nothing wrong with a game that requires you to press a combination of buttons with dexterity. It's not like they are QTE.
What fricken' games have you been playing ?

Those games aren't button mashers. They all have rich, full combat systems and are a lot of fun to play. Kingdom Hearts is a button masher. That game sucks.
@PurpleMan5000: I know they aren't button mashers. But the way the guy was saying that FFXV looks like a button masher without actually playing it and by looking at the game itself it looks like it will have a combat system similar to the DMC or Bayonetta where you have to press button combinations and not just mindlessly mashing. I had to use his logic on other games to make the problem of his logic clear.
From what I heard, the people who played the game at PAX said that you can't mash buttons since you need to wait for your first attack to hit the enemy before releasing the next.
I like the design choices so far. The overall look and sound of the world is really good. I absolutely cannot wait to play the demo today, that battle system looks really good. About damn time they took some cues from Tales.

Not once did I say anything about them. In fact, they were not on my mind while I talk about these RPG. They are not my favorite games but I did not say anything bad about them. Do you want me to added them in?
