alone in the dark stuck on episode 6 sequence 2 the anciant path

Hi you guys can someone help me maybe im kinda stuck for 2 days on alone in the dark on episode 6 the truth sequence 2 the anciant path . . i raised the small bridge with the forktruck and went on into a room with a big door an a lever . .. when i pull the lever a beam comes out of a wall next to the big door.I dont know what to do with this . . .there is a opening in the far back wall with a bunch of crates and i think i have to go that way but i just dont know if that beam has something to do with it.Please please someone help me if you allready finished the game.Since there is no walkthrough yet im kinda waiting on someones good advice.Thnx in advance.
