I am one of those gamer's who absoultely simply REFUSE to play any mode on any game that gives you an option of HARD, or VERY HARD no matter what the cost because I know that I will not have the patience or temper for it, especially if I keep dying. So am I the only gamer out there who only enjoys to play the game on Easy/Medium difficulty no matter what the cost?

I'm the opposite actually. I tend to play games on hard/very hard so I spend more time playing, and in my head that means I get more of my money's worth. Weird.

It really depends on the game. If it's very well made and punishes me for my mistakes and doesn't resort to artificial cheap death tactics disguised as higher difficulty, I don't mind playing it on increased difficulty. However, if it considers "harder" cheaper, then I play it on regular.

Playing on normal is for the story immersion and flow. Hard is for the challenge. Easy is just plain boring, imo of course.

Well, I have what I like to refer to as "video game OCD". I beat my games on every difficulty level, starting with easy & going to the hardest setting, and obsess about completing my games to 100%. Not only do I feel like I'm getting my money's worth, but I like the feeling that I've accomplished something. It's almost becoming a sickness, but I still enjoy it.

Sometimes when I'm lazy and just want to enjoy the story or see the latter levels, I play on a easier setting.

I used to always play on the easiest setting when I was relatively new to games, but now I've actually been seeing the attraction to harder difficulties. I finished Urban Chaos: Riot Response on the hardest level, and it was actually pretty fun. I was working on Rogue Trooper hard, but I haven't played it for a while. If the game is fun on normal difficulty, and the mechanics are strong, then I'll give it a try on harder difficulties.

No your not the only one TC. Ive never felt the need to play my games on higher difficulty just for the sake of saying I did it. Its pointless, unless you get some kinda reward or unlock something worth while. Which if it requires you to played the whole game again but harder, its probably not worth it.

I play my games with their normal difficulty, which was basicly the way the game was meant to be played in the first place. What am I trying to prove by highering the difficulty? Nothing, thats what.

I am the same way but I do know people who have to beat the game on the hardest difficulty. I never saw the point in it. I play games for the stories and action, not the frustration :P

I HATE being frustrated when playing video games, nothing ticks me off more then dieing and replaying the same part over and over. Thats why I won't even touch Demon Souls, I know it will just make me mad. Of course being too easy is also not fun so I start on Normal. If the game is awesome ( Uncharted 2 ) I'll play it again on hard. (and then again on crushing and get the plat trophy.)

But for the most part, its one playthrough on normal for me.

For games I like (generally shooters) I like going for the hardest setting available after beating it on normal. Even more now that I get achievements for it. I NEVER play on easy except extremely rare cases where I may temporarily lower the difficulty to pass an insanely frustrating spot (Dragon Age finale :( )

You're not the only one but myself I prefer to at least try it at the hardest setting and see if I can do it. What annoys me is games that will not let you change the difficulty setting after you start the game. I shouldn't have to restart the game to change the difficulty.

I play every difficulty setting the game offers; statrting with easy.

Easy gets me used to the controls. By the time I get to the hardest setting, I have to slow down my play through. Then I really start to notice things in the game that I missed before.

Depending on the game, playing on a high difficulty level might require you to come up with new strategies, making the game more entertaining than playing on an easier setting.

I'm also a gamer who has close to or over one hundred unplayed games. I can only allot one playthrough until all of the games are done.

I usually play games on the Normal setting, but maybe I'll try the Hard setting to prolong the experience.

I'm pretty much the same. I usually start with normal. Sometimes if that's frustrating me, I'll switch to easy. Rarely touch hard.

Hah! Only 100 unplayed? I have 363 unplayed! Yeah, I have an addiction. You wanna make something of it? Heck, just a few clicks ago I bought The Longest Journey and Sanitarium for $5 a piece.

I usually play games on normal first and if it's good, then I might go through again on a harder difficulty. The exception to this is shooters. I almost always play those on a harder difficulty right away because I think they tend to be a bit too easy on the default setting.

Really it comes down to the individual game. Every developer has their own idea of how hard normal is going to be. I've played games on Hard that were super easy and I've played games on normal that were f'n impossible. you really have to take every game on its own merits. Either way you look at it, it's nice to have the option for those who want it.

If there are acheivments for doing it on the harder levels, then I will, but otherwise Ill go with normal or whatever the default is. I usually play games for fun, not to brag about doing it on a harder level.

You haven't even played Halo if you havent played it on Legendary.

Same with Gears and it's hardest difficulty setting.

Of course now that I'm getting older and worried about high blood pressure I find the tougher difficulties to be something I have to take in small doses. But I still play them if the game is fun enough to keep my attention.

I almost always choose normal for my first playthrough. Sometimes I choose hard. If I choose to play through the game again, I tend to choose a harder difficulty setting than I did the first time to get more of a challenge. Works for me :)

Just wondering, what games give you the only option of hard or very hard? Anyways I prefer playing games on normal or hard. Easy is fun, but super hard (like veteran in COD) can be frustrating.

I always play on the default difficulty for any game I play the first time through--since that's how the game was meant to be played. But, if the game has even the slightest amount of replay value then I'll increase the difficulty on subsequent playthroughs.
