any good RPGs comin out, with a slice-of-life feel, such as in Fable2 (own a house, shops, marry, take care of a family)

I don't know of any recent RPGs in that style, but check out Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 1/2.

As much as Borderlands and Fallout3 are FPS RPG's, I'd say they'd suffice. More if you like action-based RPG's. Bioshock/Bioshock2 and Mass Effect 1 and 2 are also great shooter RPG's as long as you take them slowly. People who tend to run and gun in most RPG's (aside from borderlands) happen to die often.

Fable 3 is coming out... Unsure about any other upcoming "slice of life" games.

I like how only the first guy bothered to read his post. I'm sure you've played it but sounds you want something like The Sims. Not technically an RPG but it has a lot of RPG elements and obviously the "slice of life" thing

You might try some of the Harvest Moon games. You play as a farmer and "level up" your farm. A decided lack of actual combat though haha.
There's always Rune Factory Frontiers if you like a bit of that tossed in though.

Sometimes I think I'm the only person on the internet who reads the first post in a forum thread. :(

LOL! I swear I read the first post! Even the ensuing posts afterward! I must have missed the "coming out" part though. *Cough*
Selective reading perhaps? :P

This is better suited to the GGD Game Recommendation Thread.
