unfortunately, all the Samurai games I've played so far has been quite poor or mediocre at best.
However, Yakuza 3 looks like it is about to change that.
Although it isn't exactly samurai game, but it comes close to it.
Blood Will Tell is one of the best games on the PS2. Critics seemed to think the game was great, but it didn't get much exposure. It had some similarities to God of War, but it came first.wmg1299
That is like Ninja Gaiden Sigma type of game.
It's not a game that allows users to be a samurai and live their life style. It is just another action game with main character supposely being a samurai.
Kind of hard to call that game a samurai game.
I liked the first two Onimusha games. The 3rd seemed bland to me and I haven't checked the 4th.
What I can tell you about the Onimusha games is that, being made by the dude who made the Resident Evil games and that the 1st Onimusha was intended to be another RE game, it uses a control scheme and fixed camera like those games before the 4th RE.
You get many weapons and armor that are upgradable and in the 2nd game more than the main character can be played.
I think my favorite thing about the game is it's use of timing mechanic. If you time your strike just right, it will deliver huge damage that will kill many of the enemies you encounter in normal mode with a single slash.
I won't dive any deeper, but those are a couple of my personal favs for the PS2.
All I ever see is mediocredy in this department. Anything out there with good character customization, leveling up feature, and or deep combat system? I dl'd the new tenchu Z game from XBL and it was beyond terrible.weffer
