Yeah, but you gotta be careful at the start. It seems like it is going to end up just like every other melodramatic RPG with a group of teenagers, but just keep playing!
Fable 2 and Too Human are coming out this year I believe. Fable 2 is rumoured for an October release while I think Too Human might come out sooner, August perhaps.

Not very JRPG? What do you mean? There's like J-pop music all over it, and the characters look like they were anime inspired. Don't get me wrong, I love the game and am playing the heck out of it, but I don't consider it very mainstream that it would have a wide appeal amongst my friends.

In the sense that it isn't another Final Fantasy. A game where you aren't forced down a set path, with set characters, through set events all leading up to a set conclusion. In Persona 3 you get to make and develop relationships with different people and groups, however many or few you choose which in turn affect how many and how powerful your character can become during the Dark Hour when Persona's can be used.
I meant nothing to do with the content of the game, just how it is presented. It isn't a "standard" or "run-of-the-mill" JRPG. One of the reasons I like Atlus so much. They are the Sqaure of the 1990's reborn.
Lost Odyssey might be something you want to look in to. It's a little more on the linear side but the delivery of its story and the amount of layers it builds upon its characters is vary mature.
I'll second The Witcher if you have a capable PC, but otherwise, Fallout 3's basically your only option. Persona 4's bound to be excellent, but it doesn't sound like something you'd like.
