Any other big Dragon Quest fans here? What's your favorite game in the series? How excited are you for DQ 11?

Dragon Quests 3,4, and 5 are my favorite games in the series (ive only played the originals though not the remakes) and theyre my three favorite rpgs along with Earthbound, Mother 3, and Lunar Eternal Blue.

The upcoming DQ 11 looks beautiful imo and im very excited. It better come to the west or ill be mad lol.

6 probably. Currently playing 4. I'd highly recommend the remakes. The fact that they havent remade 1-3 yet is BS. But now you can play 4-9 directly on your 3DS and that is awesome.

11 looks fucking great. I likely get the Ps4 and 3DS version. The gimmicky 2D bottom screen on the 3DS sucked me in pretty hard.

Yeah I really enjoy the Dragon Quest games. I fondly remember getting Dragon Warrior on the NES when it first came out. I would say that Dragon Quest VIII is my favourite, recently picked up the 3DS version and look forward to playing through it again. Definitely looking forward to DQXI.

I believe I played 8 on the PS2.

Seemed like a very basic JRPG. Nothing wrong with that I love the genre.

@vespuche: I think of 8 as a standard but very well executed jrpg. I dont agree at all though that its the best in the series but still very great. This is the series though that pretty much set the standard though.

I love Dragon Quest and sometimes I wonder why. I own 1-9 and only have to beat 2 and 3. 9 is my personal favorite, with 8 and 6 being the runners up.

@zappacan: Certain elements of the series are dated, namely the menu system. It leads to a lot of tedium at times. Plus the remakes didn't fix things that it feels like they should have. For instance, VII is a wicked mixed bag. The stories are creative and fun, but the pacing is all over the place and often times makes you run to one location, talk to someone, then run all the way back. IDK, I still love the series but many of the games have little details that add up to big annoyances at times.

@turtlethetaffer: Oh yeah agree with DQ 7. Definitely the hardest game for me to rate as it has so many polarized ups and downs but i feel over all it left a bigger impression on me than most games from other series

Ive never had problems with the menu systems though.

@zappacan: Like I said, each game just has weirdly small elements that are really annoying that could have been easily fixed. But I still love the games anyways.
