Any thoughts or impressions on Dead Island?

To be honest, I have not heard of this game before until today. A friend of mine showed me a gameplay trailer that was on Gametrailers.com and I was actually intrigued. It's like Elder Scrolls with zombies and it looks a lot of fun! The fact that you can play up to four players is awesome and I also like the RPG-style development that you can do. It's kinda like Borderlands, minus having to stay strictly with one class and instead be any kind of class that you want to be, like how Skyrim is going to be. This is a game that definitely has my interest right now and I'm curious if any of you are also interested in it too or will you be waiting for what the reviews will have to say before buying or renting Dead Island?

I'll keep an eye on it but I do not know if I am going to get it. They seam to be promising too much.

I pre-ordered it a few days ago. I like the "serious" feel of it, and the whole atmosphere of the island overrun by the undead. It seems like something I could get immersed in.

I'm looking forward to it. I understand it's primarily MP, but if SP is good enough, I'll totally get it. It looks pretty good.

I was never into the Dead Space series anyhow, since horror isn't my cup of tea. But this game, Dead Island, is more my cup of tea. It's like a combination of Elder Scrolls and Borderlands in a way with zombies involved. I think I'm going to try and give it a shot.

Reserving judgment. I don't have much faith in the developer's tracklist.

Neither was I, but it sounded similar. Zombie games aren't really my thing unless I can destroy them completely...Like RE4 and NGB.BranKetra

Well, from the impressions that I'm getting, it looks like you can still destroy them completely, but just takes a lot more time to do it, especially since it's mostly melee-combating type weapons, such as bats or knives. I think the game will pick up once you find better weapons to use against the zombie horde.

Although it looks awesome I am going to wait for a review, they talked about the game world being massive in it so I hope that there will be plenty of things to do in it and the gameplay will be as good as they are promising.

I was just watching a gameplay preview. I didn't realize it had a singleplayer campaign. I thought it was going to multiplayer only ala L4D.

I'm a big zombie nerd. So I'll try it one way or another unless it gets some truly horrible scores. And even then I'll still try it, just not on day one.

From what I understand, it will have the best of both worlds, as in either a single-player campaign or multiplayer campaign.
