It was far better than that so called Final Fantasy known as Final Fantasy X IMO Hardly, X actually HAD a story. Yes it did but it was pretty awful (IMO of course)as for FFXII not having a story yes it did.

Anyone with eyes and ears could see that Final Fantasy XII's attempt at a story was completely botched. There was probably 70% less plot-related dialogue in XII than any of the other FF games, it was just shocking how thin the plot was and how infrequent the character interactions were. As for backstories in FFXII? Almost non existent, beyond disappointing.

As for the story being botched (probably due to Matsuno leaving the project before it was 50% complete he was the main writer). But I would still take FFXII over X anyday. That is just my personal opinion though. I just couldn't enjoy FFX it is one of the few titles I disliked in the series (main stream titles)
Completed it once, the story was pretty average although I wouldn't call it bad really. The main problem was the battle system that made it a bit too uninvolving later in the game once you got your gambits set up with a decent spell/skill set. It doesn't have much to offer for a replay although those mark battles were fun side-quests. Still, fun while it lasted but nota shade on FFX.
I've played through it at least 3 times, and am planning to do so again at some point. It is an astounding game, and the main reason it is not as popular as the previous installments (FFXI doesn't count) is that it changed the core gameplay mechanic and fell in the shadow of FFX. I preferred FFX, but FFXII was so close to reaching FFX's greatness.
I beat it once when it first came out and I am playing a second time now. I love that game. On my second playthrough I am trying to get all the ultimate equipment, i.e. weapons, armor, and accessories. It took me 15 hours of farming to get the Danjuro!

I bought the collector's edition from ebay a few months ago because I wanted to start a new game(funny too, because I almost beat my first game save). I started playingmy new save file acouple times, but since I worked all summer, I didn't have too much time to play it. I miss it. :( I'm going to play it this weekend though. :D FFXII is still my favorite game.

Yes! I just picked it up again a few days ago (funny you started this thread). I've got almost 126 hours and i still have so much to do before the final battle! This game is breathtaking, everyone should recommend this to RPG fans that haven't played it.
forced myself to complete it once, doubt i will play it again its my least favorite FF game.

Pretty much this for me. I was entertaining the idea of another playthrough to do some of the extra stuff but i just dislike the game too much to bother.
