the last time i played online it was call of duty advanced warfare. I remember this clearly, we finished a round and I was kicking so much ass, had 40 kills and only 2 deaths this was my best game ever and there these 13 or 14 little kids cussing me everytime i kill them. I was like calm down its only a game, remember one kid said some pretty horrible things bout my sister, mother and girlfriend. seriously grow up. Im not on 24/7 cause i have a job and a life but man after that I was done with multiplayer online, when i buy a game, ill just play single player or a private match with family and friends.

Anyone else had experience like this? Im done playing with people over the world, can't be mature and have fun playing.

I still play a lot of multiplayer myself. For me it started with Halo 2 on the original Xbox but it really picked up with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Gears of War. All three of those franchises are still my most heavily played multiplayer games.

@thelastofusfanboy89: "can't be mature and have fun playing." what? you mean somehow you can't have fun when you're mature? how does playing with random people online can't be done when you're mature?

Enter a multiplayer game with your friends and have fun killing random people or play with them in co-op.

Nah, I love multiplayer. Don't really mind the immaturity; it can be fun, and when it's not there is the mute button :D

Sadly not a lot of good shooters for me right now, can't wait for BF1!

Don't much care for other kinds of mp games except for MMOs.

i have officially hung up my multiplayer controller / m&k and retired from mp. i just don't have the time to invest anymore and i'm too much of a perfectionist to just amble about as cannon fodder whilst everyone who knows the game inside out goes to town on me.

it'll happen to you all too at some stage in your lives!! </grampa-simpson>

@thelastofusfanboy89: I play a lot of games online, most fun I get from D00M is Snapmap mess-a-rounds with others. Add to that I just finished a lobby session in Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator-, sometimes it's fun just to jump in the fray.

And when the DkSIII first DLC comes out you can bet I'll be using the Red Eye Orb and Red Soapstone day-1. Also grabbing Pokémon Sun purely for competitive multiplayer.

I don't really care if my partner or enemy in my multiplayer experiences are 'mature' anyway. It's a game, and they bought the same game as me. If they go too far? I tend to laugh. Because insults in a game is the equivalent of >nothing<

And I've had it all in games. Rage quitter/ salty hate mail/ and sometimes generally nice comments from my kind of people. I don't demand anything but I tend to repost the bad as a achievement, knowing someone got that mad over a session is very entertaining to me.

Haters are always gonna hate dood, it's part of interaction with the unknown. 'the unexpected'_

And I wouldn't change that, jackasses and all.

I still play MP games, but I enjoy co-op and SP more.

The last game that I played actively on online-multiplayer was Warcraft III. I've played a couple matches here n there on Starcraft II and messed around a bit on GTA online but that's about it.

@thelastofusfanboy89: Black Ops 2 was probably the last multiplayer game I played. I only played COD because of friends, they got too busy to play so I stopped. I got real sick of getting accused of hacking in every match just because I was good too.

EDIT: I hadn't considered MMO's... I play a few of those from time to time still.

I am the same and MP has dwindled for me. I really lost interest when COD got stupid with exo armour, jump over tall buildings and faster than a speeding plasma blaster, if you know what I mean. I am happy for BF 1 to go back to the time of simplicity and plain and simple bullets. I plan to play alot of MP with that game.

I played a lot of COD4, and others until Bad Company 2 came out. Played it to death, but around the time BF3 dropped, late 2011, I just had a shift. I still play multiplayer games here and there, like KF2 with my cousin, but Im looking for stories and narratives more.

@thelastofusfanboy89:

Never have and never will be a multiplayer gamer. I play games to have fun not listen to a 12 year old curse and talk shit. Or have some kid with a aimbot ruin everyone´s fun.

Also i am a story gamer so i tend to stick with single player games with a strong story.

How much multiplayer I play depends entirely on the current games. I reckon I'll play Battlefield 1 Multiplayer for a while soon.

And man. Why don't you just use mute or ignore chat?

The only competitive MP I play is Forged Alliance and the occasional Unreal Tournament. We'll see when BF1 comes out. I usually try to stay away from MP shooters other than UT.

Other than that it is all coop.

I also get into some Dark Souls 3 but I usually don't seek out PVP.

I also never participate vocally unless I'm playing with friends, and when we do chat it is on my own mumble server so we are not exposed to random internet people talking.

I never play MP although I am currently playing ED I still prefer to be on my own. I'm my uplay account I have no friends and first thing it says is. Its better to play with friends add friends or something like that. I always think but I like playing games on my own stop telling me what to do and whats better to do.

I don't like how online is being integrated into gaming. So much so I'm thinking of getting out of hobby. I'm starting to think modern gaming isn't for me. I don't like multiplayer, dlc, microtransactions, broken launch games, day 1 patches, ect. I just turned 40 and I don't like the direction gaming is going.

Nope. I almost exclusively play multiplayer these days. Went through a single player phase but I haven't touched a single player game in months. Been a steady diet of Diablo 3 (for the previous season) followed by Overwatch followed by Diablo 3 (for the current season) followed by Overwatch and now World of Warcraft: Legion. Also a bit of StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void interspersed. Blizzard is without a doubt the best developer around right now and all their major games are so good that everything else just feels empty and boring in comparison.

Hate multiplayer! even the games that directed to the multiplayer deleted from my console after completing the single player campaign. (mostly FPS of course).

Just Destiny with clan buddies. I went years of hardly playing online after MW3, as my friends from high school on PS3 almost exclusively played CoD. Which I was getting tired of for a very long time. And they started to not game as much to put time aside for other life affairs. Which wasn't too bad, as I now had more time and money for games I really was interested in. And not force myself to play the CoD games they wanted to play. While my 360 buddies list practically drop dead shortly after Gears 2 release.

What's mainly keeping me online in Destiny multiplayer, is the social experience with friends I made online. Grinding for cool gear and weapons is nice and all. But online gaming is most fun when its a consistent social experience, with gamers who just want to have fun. Which is why that although I was pretty darn blessed in Bad Company 2 multiplayer. I stop playing because it was just getting lonely playing by myself.

I don't play much online but not because of silly kids online (the mute button exists). My 2 primary reasons ar:

1. Not enough time

2. BS paying for online services on PS4. So now I'll likely get Titanfall2 or BF1 on my PC and play them online.
