I pretty much solely a Single Player gamer. I mainly play FPS, or any genre for that matter, for the Single Player campaign......and I pretty much only enjoy FPS games where the primary and best part of the game is the Single Player campaign.
Even with multiplayer-based FPS games I'll play mainly solo with bots or with friends online.
I generally play for the SP, because Im rubbish at MP.
if it has MP though, I like to give it a try. I loved CoD MP more than I thought I would.
Or am I just out of my mind? Whenever an FPS comes out, all anyone seems to care about is the online, and I just couldn't care less - all I want to know is how good the story mode is. Maybe it's because the first FPS I really got into was the original Medal of Honor, which wasn't exactly a deathmatch-based shooter.The_Pig_Hostage
You or not alone I play it for the thrill of the SP side and over the years the SP side has gotten smaller and watered down in realty and with that fun has been tossed out the window I so miss adventure class level design quake 4 and Doom 3 are rubbish they are more interactive movies than a real FPS.
I like FPS but I almost never play any kind of game online. The last FPS I even wanted to play multiplayer was Goldeneye but that was 4 player split screen with friends.DeadlyZodiac
Same here. Except I was more into Perfect Dark myself - still play that game with friends every now and then.
I play most games just for single player. it's rare that i venture online for any gamessmerlusSame here, I love my FPS games and its usually always for the single player although I tread the online waters now and then but rarley.

That's basically me to a "T."

Oddly enough the ones I like for online play are the least complicated ones. I dont want to choose a "class" and a clan, and teamates and blah blah blah blah. I want to click xbox live on FEAR, jump in and start shooting people and thats it. Stuff like GRAW 2 and R6V look to have fleshed out online modes and all, but its exactly what I dont want in an online shooter.Every FPS I've played on PC or even on console has been for the singleplayer experience. There are few genres I find more immersive than a good FPS experience.
It wasn't until Halo 2 that I began to see the merits of having a good online mode in a FPS. Nowadays I look out for a good online mode as well as a good singleplayer. But I will still base most of my FPS purchases on the singleplayer campaign.
Even though multiplayer/online is goodfor the longevity of a FPS game, I still think the single-player campaign should be most important. It's the foundation and no matter how good multiplayer is, it's really not a game unless it has a solid single-player campaign.
For example, I would buy a FPS with a awesome single-player campaign alone, but I wouldn't buy one with a bad single-player mode even if it had good multiplayer. It just feels like a waste of money and being ripped off by the developers.
Every online FPS I play makes me feel like "I have played this before." Sure it's with different levels to what I have played thousands of times and sometimes different modes but I think at some point I had an online FPS overdose and the last thing I want to play nowis online FPS. I still enjoy single-player FPS though, even something like Deus Ex: Invisible War was very enjoyable for me and most people consider it to be a bad game. It might not have had a great story but it had a story. Perfect Dark 0 on the other hand was disappointing because it was so MP focused and almost forgot about the single-player experience. The shooting in SPwas ok but it lacked atmosphere and dialogue.
Unless it's multiplayer coop campaign, I generally stay away from multiplayer FPS games... Unless said game is Unreal Tournament and Unreal Tournament 2004, then I frag mad chumps. Otherwise, yea, I'm A-OK with just the single player story mode. SemiMasterThe new Unreal Tournament game this year is looking pretty good so far.

Yeah, I really prefer the single player campaign, reason why I disliked COD3, liked more COD2 and can´t wait to play BIA HH single player campaign.

You know that UT3 has a single player campaign mode I believe, not just straight out death match in addition to the multiplayer? At least thats what the trailers I've seen have lead me to believe.

Hmm every trailer I've seen has been strictly multiplayer-only footage. Are you sure you weren't just confused by what you were seeing?[QUOTE="SemiMaster"]The new Unreal Tournament game this year is looking pretty good so far.UT3 and/or Quake Wars may very well be my first MP-only game purchases.[QUOTE="The_Duke_Lives"][QUOTE="GodModeEnabled"][QUOTE="SemiMaster"]Unless it's multiplayer coop campaign, I generally stay away from multiplayer FPS games...
