I refuse to. Without one no matter the game I'm not buying it. No manual no purchase. I collect games and appreciate the manual. Anyone Else?

Not really. Almost all video game manuals these days are only a couple of pages long that don't tell you anything about the game.
I suppose I'd try to find one case with a manual in the store I'm already in, but if I don't get one, I generally won't care that much. But I understand what you're talking about; I sometimes wish I had a manual for some of my games.
I won't buy without the manual, it's a completeness sort of thing. I did once buy Fallout 3 used, to walk out of the store and realize there was no game manual. Walked back in and asked if there was one for the used game, and they were able to produce it in seconds.
Nope don't care. Theyre useless anyway. If I happen to buy an old game and it has the manual included sure I'll keep it...no reason just to throw it out but they are not a factor to me in collecting.
Interesting side note. I bought Mickey's Circus Mystery for Genesis last year (from a store I goto alot for retro games) and it came with the box, but thats not the interesting part. I opened it and it had 2 manuals. Two identical manuals. One had some passwords writen it. I still have them and the game too. Pretty odd huh?
I like getting the complete product, but to be fair, todays manuals are downright disappointing and often times contain spoilers. I haven't cracked on open in ages, at least not until i finish the game, or its apparent I'm supposed to.
Right here. I returned a No More Heroes 2 used game just last week for having no manual. I only have two games that dont have manuals but bought them anyway because I know I wont find them again (Beyond Good and Evil for Xbox and MegaMan X Collection for PS2).

Expect to be real disappointed next gen or, at most, the gen after next when everything will be digital.

I doubt this will happen soon. The physical aspect will always be close to gamers hearts.
Ubisoft have already announced plans to scrap manuals in favour of digial manuals, which they plan to roll out in the Autumn. Their first manual-free release will be Shaun White Skateboarding.I will pretty much refuse to buy a new game unless its still sealed so missing the manual would be a problem for me, I'm a stickler when it comes to this but i like my stuff mint. But if i had no other choice like for example if i was buying a game that was no longer in print or an old game its not a huge deal breaker, cant be helped with older games since they cant all be complete.
Need a manual. It's that little book that keeps me occupied on the ride/walk home. I can't imagine a case with the opposite side of the disc being empty (unless it was used). Be nice if they had some boxart, like what 3D Dot Game Heroes did. There's art behind the box cover and can be seen though the blu-ray case.
Off-topic (I just saw this a few posts ago): Won't be able to accept the digital age of downloading full games. It's not the same. Only for extra content.
well...I won't go as far as to say I won't buy it but the box sure will look empty without that wad of paper :PI refuse to. Without one no matter the game I'm not buying it. No manual no purchase. I collect games and appreciate the manual. Anyone Else?

Why would you refuse? It is like 3-8 pages of paper, printed in black and white, outlining what the controls are and how to get online. Doesn't seem like its worth avoiding to me. Now no case? That's where I draw the line.
I'm definately OCD about this. Not just about the manual and the case but the condition of the game. I almost always buy my games new. The only exceptions so far have been games that are rare or too expensive to buy new (SH2 and SH3 and FFVII are examples). If I'm buying a useddisc based game it must be in perfect condition (no scratches, must have manual and damage free case or no deal).
A game just doesn't feel complete without the manual. I always liked the manual for the Ratchet and Clanks games. The manuals double as a poster!
While a game is loading or when I feel like looking through my stack of games, I flip through the manuals looking at the pictures or character bios. Some manualshave a prologue too.
I think many game companies are too cheap with their manuals. Every Nintendo developed game or games like Jak, Ratchet, Sly, Odin Shere, Resident Evil seriesand a handful ofothers have their manuals in color. Everyone else has manuals in black and white (I'm looking at you Square). Too cheap to pay for color.
Makes me mad that Ubisoft is no longer doing printed manuals.
The good manuals are much more substantial than that. Of course, I haven't bought any current-gen games, but last-gen, some of the games had some really decent manuals. Why would you refuse? It is like 3-8 pages of paper, printed in black and white, outlining what the controls are and how to get online. Doesn't seem like its worth avoiding to me. Now no case? That's where I draw the line.

Even if the game was £40 and is being sold for £1 I wouldn't buy it. I want the manual, the case and the disc (obviously).

That's just like me! :D
I don't care if a game comes disc only. If I get a manual? Great! Ebays for 2 dollars american for common games, up to 4 for rare ones, sell them to "collectors."
My standards are higher than just a manual (no offense). If the game disk itself has also been scracthed up to hell than that is a return as well. Recently I bought a game off ebay that was in like new condition but it came in a case with eb game stickers all over it. I knew immediatly this was bad becuase eb games is a joke. Without opening it I knew the game disk was scratched to oblivion and I knew the manual will also probably be missing. Well I was right on the disk and wrong on the manual (that was a surprise). Either way I returned it. I can't understand how people manage to scratch disks up so bad. Not one game that I have bought new has ever had a single scratch on it.
Unless it's rare or hard to find, I normally won't get it without a manual. It doesn't feel complete some how, even though I never even look at or read the manual.
I wonder how people can actually lose them in the first place, not to mentiontheyactually lose the cases. How careless can you be?
