I want to start a video game collection starting with the NES games. I can't find a good list online. I want a list that is 100% accurate, contains all the different cartridges (not just the games), and only for North American releases. Anyone have a list like this? I can't really name a list of my own with out having something to go off of.What I mean by cartridges instead of games are for example. The legend of zelda was in gold and grey. This is 1 game but 2 cartridges. Also combo cartridges like Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt or Super Mario Bros/Tetris/etc. Its hard for me to strt collecting unless I have a checklist. My goal is to get every NES cartridge that was in North America. I know this is very unrealistic and I understand I will probably never complete it but let me have my dreams haha. Anyways anyone have a list like this? Thanks.spau0588

The issues is that many lists have alternate names from other countries on NA lists.
Â
But the BIGGEST issue is that there are some areas of NA, that have different names for the same game(s), even if some games are knwon by the origiunal name which is more popular.
Â
So what you would need to do is look up many sites and do research on which game names are what, which would be a giant paine in the behind.:(
I'll do my best with a list that has helped me :) This doesnt have ALL the variations. however, it DOES have an entire US release ONLY. It is printable, has a rarity rating 1 being the least rare and up from there. It also has a check box for just the game, another box for owning the games box, and then another box if you own the instruction manual as well.

Here is another list just like the first one with all the games released OUTSIDE the US. They are broken down by country

Good luck man. I hope I helped :)
Here is one more just for good faith. It has all the variations, but it isnt quite as streamlined as the other two lists. No big deal imo. However, you can see variations in labels and such like Metroid. It has 3 variations where as King of Kings has 4 variations. Some things are as small as license number differentials.

Oh, you might want this too. This shows the 3 and 5 screw variations.

I think I answered this question already, but the only list I know will be 100% accurate isnt free. You should be able to buy the book from Digital Press. I have been wanting a few of their books for a long time :( I will ask my wife to get me a couple for my birthday though... lolWitIsWisdomYou did answer bthis before but I reposted it to try to get new answers. That's all. What is the list your talking about and how much is it? Oh and good answer below.
I havent heard much about the 3 and 5 screws cartridges. Is it really that important and what's it all about?I'll do my best with a list that has helped me :) This doesnt have ALL the variations. however, it DOES have an entire US release ONLY. The 5 screw format is what was used to begin with, so if you find two copies of a game one held together by 5 screws and one held together by 3, chances are that the one with 3 screws is a reprint or from games that were not produced in the first couple years of the NES life cycle. Still legit and in most cases worth the same, but the link I provided tells the rarity of some if you read through the post. I have several 3 screw 5 screw duplicates, but tracking some down is like pulling teeth.
Many rumors came up to why the 5 screw formula was done away completely at some point. A popular rumor is that production costs were slightly reduced. Another suggests that the industry eventually came together and chose a format that stuck but some companies were slow in coming around to using it. Certain production lines had the premolded new style sent to them while they still had tens of thousands or more of the blanks with 5 screws still, so many games came in both varities.
It is just another collecting option. however since you wanted a list that showed different label designs and the like, many people regard the screws as being just as sought after from a collectors point of view.
I think it would be cool to show somebody a game with two label varities and a 5 screw variation.... then again, its all about the thrill of the hunt for me! I hope you find that feeling :)
