I own a PS3, Wii and PS2 along with handhelds but it seems that I rarely play them anymore. Played Heavenly Sword today for an hour or so and got bored, put in Oblivion and stopped after 5 mins cause I was bored once again. I really don't see what's so awesome about Elder Scrolls 4 that everyone is drooling over.

The last game I beat was Twilight Princess, so I guess my expectations in games just got higher? It just feels like I'm losing interest. I spend more time on GameSpot then actually gaming...

What is wrong with me? I'm still 18, and I thought losing interest in games would be the last of my concerns.

Well actually the last BREATHE-TAKING game I played was Twilight Princess, Resistence: Fall of Man was the last game I beat and it was a good FPS - but compared to TP? Yeah...

Don't worry about it. The past two weeks I've hardly touched my Xbox. I don't really have a good reason, but sometimes I just go in cycles where I don't feel like playing that much. Eventually you will catch the bug again, but for now, enjoy other aspects of life!

Don't worry, I think it's an adulthood thing. I'm the exact same way; I don't play very much for a month, then suddenly I play games (it feels like:non-stop) for a week or so. But, for that initial month; I could be playing my favorite game of all time, and I'd still get bored with it within a couple of minutes.

In terms of hardcore gaming, yes. I'm playing more casual-aimed games now. Tetris, Sudoku, Brain Age, etc. I do play some Metroid Prime every now and then though.

I game less or rather I video games less.

It's demanding.

If you join a multiplayer game, you'll get owned by some projo player. It's not fun. Yea, you can spend your time "mastering", but it just isn't worth it to me.

What have I gotten from playing lots of Counter-Strike and Starcraft? A curved back, a painful wrist and stiff fingers.

Gaming is easy to do. You play by yourself and join lots of other people online. But that's all you do with people. It's nothing more than just I'm here to game. I don't care about you though.

That's why I play table games now. Actual physical games. Like chess. Or magic the card game. I get to know the players. I can see their personalities in the game. It makes the game feel like an experience rather than just winning or losing the game.

But even losing the game can feel better this way. Lose the game, but gain a friend.

I say this as I'm installing WoW to play with my friend... ironic.

Me. Developers don't have the right idea when making games anymore. To them, all they want to do is convince people to buy their game by adding a few shallow features and then hyping it. Games forgot how to be innovative and fun. The last truly decent game I've played was Mount and Blade. Once you've played Half-Life, Max Payne, and a few other key games - you've experienced all the fun you'll ever experience in mainstream PC gaming. Games like FEAR and such only add onto it (and not by much).

Examples of Good Games -

Morrowind

Mount and Blade

Half-Life

Knights of the Old Republic

Baldurs Gate

Starcraft

Rise of Nations

Examples of Bad Games -

Oblivion

Command And Conquer 3

Gears of War

Rainbow Six Vegas

Knights of the Old Republic 2

Hell, Rainbow Six and Gears of War are so similar, it should simply be called Gears of Vegas. What happened to taking risks when making games? What happened to innovation? I can only have fun with the same game concepts for so long.

GodLovesDead, I'm glad to see that you included Morrowind in the good games list. I'm something of a fanboy. :)

Anyway, I haven't played it for a while (****, almost a year!) and I've been wanting to get back into, but I just don't take the time to do it...

I'm kind of in a gaming rut at the moment as well, but it's not because I don't want to be gaming, it's just that I'm busy doing other things like working and playing music.

I'm gaming quite a bit at the moment, but it hasn't been serious gaming since I beat GoW (twice). Mostly casual gaming like Guitar Hero 2 and Geometry Wars Evolved on XBLA. Been having fun with an old-school sort of mentality, trying to rack up as many points as I possibly can.

I have a bunch of last-gen games I've been meaning to play, though. Maybe I should crack open RE4 and give it a shot...

Well, I've stopped playing all games pretty much. I don't pay attention to new games, old games, or present games I own now. I haven't touched any of my consoles besides my computer of course. But there is a reason for that. its because about 4 months ago I was introduced to world of warcraft. After that, all of my other games did get boring. WoW is all I play now. And I am feeling a little worried about the fact that I no longer care about any other games. Yeah, I know. worried? I don't know why. I don't guess its anything to worry about really.

I play games less now because of work and school, but it's about the same it's always has been.

No one's forcing you to play video games, there's nothing wrong /w not playing for a few weeks...or month or 2..your games aren't going anywhere. We're not here to convince you that you MUST play your games either.

I game less and less as the years go by. That's one of the reasons I didn't go next-gen yet. At first I tried getting a new game to see if it would spark my interest back. It didn't do any good. I seem to watch movies more these days.

College classes, homework, and being more sociable contribute to me gaming less than I used to. However, I also don't have the money to constantly buygames, and when I haven't bought a new one in a long time, I play less and less.

I just got MP3 yesterday, though, so I'll be breezing through that. :P

I game on PC, DS, PS2, Wii, and Xbox (but I left that at home this year). I spent way too much on systems--money that I should have used to buy more games. If I had more games, I'd be gaming more.

Well considering I've been gaming for over 2 decades and Bioshock, Metroid Prime 3 and Personal 3 are 3 of the best games I've ever played, it sounds like many here are just taking a necessary break from gaming. Heck I once took a 7 year break from gaming; sometimes it's just not the right thing in your life. If you're bored of gaming just take a break, but don't make foolish comments like game developers are out to lunch, or they just don't make them like they used to. The fact iswe're into 1 of the best falls and holiday seasons in the histroy of gaming with a number of potential AAA titles that feature new and unique gameplay.

it might because of the lack of games that have been comming out, but soon Assassins Creed, SSBB, SMG, and a bunch of other games come out, so maybe you'll get more into games again then. i know i will :)

I've been going in and out of gaming so much for the last year or so. It's just back and forth for me. Like now, I'm not really gaming. But a few weeks ago I was gaming quite a bit. It just varies.
