No reason why they couldn't include a mini HDMI port (my camcorder has one and it's fantastic), but knowing Sony they're probably going to offer something similar, but proprietary so you have to spend $40+ buying a special cable from them directly.

What was the last Playstation you owned? The PS3 certainly doesn't go that route (the controllers are hooked up using USB cables, the system accepts any 2.5 hard drive and any HDMI cable).

Oh, I know the PS3 does that (the fat one even went so far as to use a regular PC style power cord), but their handhelds have been traditionally closed. The 2000/3000 require a proprietary cable for video output and the Go uses a different cable again, requiring users who 'upgraded' to buy another cable. They also tossed the micro USB port in favour of a proprietary one, which was an interesting step back.
im hoping NGP will feature TV-out. i dont have a PS3, but if the NGP supports that feature, then to me the NGP is better than the PS3. sure its not as powerful, but damn from the videos ive seen, the picture quality and graphics the NGP provides is gorgeous.
