For example, Final Fantasy XIII, No More Heroes 2, Tekken 6 and the New Metal Gear Solid that's coming up. Is this because the companies want more money? Or is it just because they just want a wider audience for thier games?

Good riddance, exclusives are the dumbest thing ever. If you've got a good product, why restrict its audience to only one platform? It's the kinda thing that caters to same type of pathetic gamers that like games that require grinding. A very lame business practice, along the same lines as proprietary software and hardware.
And that was one of the smartest things they've done. Nintendo Wii and DS has a bunch of exclusivesNo it's because microsoft have to buy exlcusive PS3 games ( exeption of No More Heroes ) in order for them to have a chance in surviving in the market

I hate exclusives.
How can you name titles the next Metal Gear game? No one even knew about it until E3 and even then, MGS4 is still exclusive to the PS3. Same goes for No More Heroes 2. That hasn't been confirmed to be multi-platform either and depending on how the first title does on the other consoles, there's a chance it won't be.
Well given the costs of developing games and the similarities between 360/PS3/PC it only makes sense to make a product for the most number of consumers as possible. Given that there still is a decent sized exclusive list all things considered. You have most of the Halo games, Gears of War 2, Forza 3, Infamous, Little Big Planet, Gran Turismo, Banjo Nuts & Bolts, etc. I could probably ramble off on over a dozen or so more games currently available that would make each available system worth owning.

Of course prices have fluctuated by now, but remember when people paid 1,000+ dollars on ebay for a machine that had *zomg* 8 cores? The possibilities were endless.. until they ended soon after people realized graphically multi plats look the same. Next to paying a few hundred dollars for a piece of hardware that will be destroyed by different colored lights, that's a pretty shady business practice if I do say so myself. exclusives are nice every once in a while, but i prefer if exclusives are kept to a minimal. gamers benefit in the end, no matter what console you game on. if anything, exclusitivity only fuels fanboyism, and make fanboys buy their platform exclusives more blindly without considering the flaws.

Yay to Gameboy! lol I'm not sure I follow you, are you suggesting that PC gaming is a rip-off because of the cost of the hardware? As far as multiplatform games looking the same across all platforms, I'd agree with that for the most part. Although there are examples of games that looked and performed better on their PC versions.Good riddance, exclusives are the dumbest thing ever. and host of more endless PC exclusives...everyone says that exclusives are gone, yet the still are prevalent
I hope one day there is an easy way to play every game without having to own three or more systems. It's a pain.
What is that one software that was promising? It lets you play many games online streaming, even Crysis and you don't even need a PC.
:| It's called competition. Exclusives are what drive console sales. Exclusives are still important to console sales. It is because of exclusives that I still want a PS3 and Wii. They each have several games that I want to play, but can't because they aren't on 360 or PC.

That's a good point, I hadn't thought about that. From the developer's perspective, though, I imagine they generally want a broader audience. I wonder how they determine how much they (the developer) are compensated for exclusives by the console company. How much does Microsoft have to pay the GoW developers to make the game exclusive for the XBOX? Games are quite expensive to develop these days, that`s why most third party publishers go multiplatform.
It`s nothing personal, just business.
More developers are going to go multiplatform. I would too to increase sales. Mario will never go cross platform though,it's Nintendo's trade mark. Imagine how much more money Nintendo would make if games like Super Smash Bros came to the Xbox and Playstation.

Its worth bearing in mind all exclusives aren't paid for. Sometimes developers figure multiconsole development isn't worth the effort either because its too hard or the audience isn't there.
As a gamer, I don't care if people that own a different platform than me can play a game, but games built from the ground up tend to make the best use of hardware (which is not to knock the performance of multiconsole games like Dead Space, GTA4 and MW2 or to ignore the fact that games like Lair and Haze were unimpresive from a tech perspective).
im pretty sure theres still a bunch of exclusives out heir on all systems OP. however what i do see is that non exclusive games are getting better and better like batman AA, borderlands and AC2. i own more multiplats then i do exclusives and i think that gap will only get bigger as 2010 roles in
who cares about exclusives.. i just wanna game, i don't care if another console gets it. I'm not making any money from it

Let me just add that there is something so unbelievably pathetic and childish about gamers who WANT exclusives. Why in the world would any gamer want a game to NOT be available to owners of different consoles? Can someone please explain that to me? On second though, don't even bother :-)Please Log In to post.
