I picked it up from the PSN Flash Sale for 4.95 and I have to say I'm glad I didn't pay a single cent more. The game is seriously flawed. I don't know how Tom McShea ended up giving it an 8. It seriously has some of the worst climbing and combat systems in any survival game I've played. It felt almost like it was designed for mobile, but then turned into a console game. I got to say, I did dig the atmosphere, but I absolutely hated the dust. The ending though... punched me in the gut.

I would love to see this game remade me with a AAA budget and a solid engine, though. I want to play it again without it being such a broken mess.

Well, originally it was supposed to be a AAA budget game but it got slashed down to an XBLA title, so it's a step above many XBLA titles for sure. I actually liked the climbing/combat mechanics because it's basically a survival horror/survival-type game. I liked that climbing was more like a puzzle, that over exerting yourself resulted in reduced overall stamina, and that every encounter you had with other people you had to think your way through.

I never beat it, but since it got released on Steam I've been meaning to get back to it. It's certainly not perfect, but it's unique and I applaud any game that does something interesting and new.

As is I am Alive is a excellent game, but ya i also wish it would have been made into a fully AAA game instead of a small arcade title.

You got that wrong I am Alive came out in 2012 , The Last of Us came out in 2013

So if anything The Last of us is a poor´s man version of I am Alive.

Does it really matter which year one or the was launched ? actually I didn´t find out about I´m Alive until last year when it went on sale on XBL and I´m sure lot of people found about it that way.

I like it a lot, I was hyped for it when it was announced as a retail game and I beat it multiple times on hard when it finally came out of development purgatory in DD form. One of the few survival games out there where you can actually screw yourself over if you are not careful. Not perfect, but then again it was made by Ubisoft Shanghai, I suppose on a budget of a grilled cheese sandwich, so I am ready to excuse the rough edges, considering.

When you start to belittle the game and compare it to a playstation exclusive game, then yes it does matter what year it was released. Since you began the tour down that road and I Am Alive was before that ps game.

But in the grand scheme , of course it does not matter what year it was released in. I am Alive is a brilliant game that flew under the radar for most and didn't get the recognition it should have gotten.

Honestly I liked it a lot. It's been a while since I played it so I can't remember everything, but I guess I didn't mind the mechanics since I don't remember it being frustrating at all. For me it was definitely worth the money. I especially liked how you had only one arrow (later maybe two?) and you had to fetch it back everytime after firing it.
