I have to admit I recently got into the series about a year ago. I bought GTA III and Vice City and played up till about the second island of GTA III I think it was. Anyone here still pop up in that game sometimes and have another go at it?

I used to really love GTAIII until I got some extended play time with the later games in the series and it's honestly hard to go back. The camera and the lock on system just drive me nuts. After playing San Andreas I think it's really hard to go back to a non-controllable camera. Nearly ruins the game for me. :?
not anymore because San Andreas is the better GTA

I couldn't get into San Andreas. GTA Vice City is better and the atmosphere is amazing.
I popped it in like a year ago in the summer. I completed 99% of it, only need to finish that last Patriot Playground mission to complete 100%.
I do. I'm still trying to get 100% on that game without ever using a guide. There's just one hidden package that is eluding me. I can't find it at all lol. Still it's fun to wonder around. That game has the most interesting city of the series. I much prefer GTA III to Vice City and San Andreas. I much prefer the in-car camera in GTA III too. The one in San Andreas is too low. You can barely see what's in front of you.Raiko101
I don't know how you can like GTAIII over Vice City. Vice City recreated the 80's so well I felt like I was actually living in the game lol.

I'll give this to you, Vice City has the best soundtrack in the series by a country mile. I practically loved every station in that game. However, the city was just too small for me. It has some interesting moments, but I didn't get the same sense of freedom. Especially when the downtown area of the second major island was about 3 blocks wide lol.I just bought it a few days ago! It's really fun, but Vice City is just miles better. You can't even buy property in GTA III, and there's no motorcycles or helicopters. I'm having fun with it, but it feels a bit minimalistic compared to the modern GTA's.
No but I still consider the game that started it all as far as free roam crime 3d.
I still play GTA4 from time to time, only singleplayer game I can actually replay. I like just driving around hauling ass on straight aways and trying not to die.
As for the anoyying camera and lock on I played the pc versions so I've long since forgotten.
Not really because GTA4 killed the franchise as far as I'm concerned, made me realize just how recycled the series really is. But you can watch magic shows, TV programs, even Kat Williams! Whoopty doo!
gta 3 is still an awesome game. sure its lacking in many departments, but i think its much more challenging than the newer gtas and that's what makes it more fun to me.muguntie
i liked the story and the gameplay of III alot, but I'm at a point in the game where i can't beat any more missions so I never really play it anymore. San Andreas was the easiest and it's the only one I've completed......

Same here, San Andreas never really appealed to me much. The constant F-bombs in the game along with the music really pulled me back. I didn't like the whole gangster thing the main character had going on.Please Log In to post.
