I know its odd to hear such a statement but it did..... On the cover of the game it said something about changing videogames and I thought it was kind of silly from such a game. But it was the first game that forced me to use analog sticks to play. I hated them before. I only used the D-pad for every game. But after playing ape escape I ALWAYS used the sticks. And here we are today where every game uses them primarily

Yeah I remember playing it on the ps1 when it first came out dual analogs was and still is awesome for gaming. But Nintendo made the analog stick popular first.

Atari made use of an analog stick before Nintendo.
