With 2024 behind us we try to think positive and look to the future for what could happen in the year of 2025, newly announced games that have generated a ton of hype with many that seem to have a fair amount of promise which could make this year turn out better than what 2024 was. So here are the ten biggest hyped games in 2025?
10: Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater
Developer: Konami
A remake of the excellent 2004 game MGS3: Snake Eater will see us returning to the Jungles of 1964 during the Cold War era. It will take advantage of modern gameplay mechanics that were apart of later Metal Gear titles while also being to the original which include a revamped camouflage & survival viewer mechanics. It will be great to go back to sneaking around the Jungles all over again in remake form.
9: Grand Theft Auto VI
Developer: Rockstar Games
After exhausting the hell out of Grand Theft Auto V for more than over a decade Rockstar Games is going to FINALLY give us an all new entry to the crime driven series and it is about time that we deserved a new game. It will take place in Leonida as well as returning us to Vice City. Hope we hear more of this game and we can also hope that we don't have to wait any longer for this to finally out this year.
8: Sid Meier's Civilization VII
Developer: Firaxis Games
A new entry into the successful Civilization simulation games from Firaxis Games and it sure looks more bigger than with previous games. You are able to select leaders and civilizations more independently and each of the civilizations can favour a leader with different attributes. Many gamers can't wait to be able to dive into their new civilizations and begin building.
7: Clair Obsur Expedition 33
Developer: Sandfall Interactive
Clair Obsur Expedition 33 is looking to be a rather cool looking and playing Turn Based RPG with focus on timing-based actions, when defending enemy attacks can either be parried or dodged. This game is looking to be pretty promising and it is one for those who enjoy the timing based mechanics in their Turn Based RPGs.
6: Ghost of Yotei
Developer: Sucker Punch Productions
Sucker Punch Production the studio behind PlayStation Hits Sly Cooper and Infamous brought us Ghost of Tsushima which was one of the best samurai simulators and now they are working on a stand alone sequel with Ghost of Yotei. It will set 329 years after Ghost of Tsushima with a new character named Atsu who is a female warrior that is going to take up the power of “The Ghost”. After how amazing Ghost of Tsushima was Ghost of Yotei is sure to build up upon the success of the previous game and improve on them.
5: Lunar Remastered Collection
Developer: GungHo Entertainment
Game Arts RPG Masterpiece Lunar which was originally on the Mega CD are getting some modern gaming treatment with Lunar Remastered Collection. It will include Lunar Silver Star Story and also the sequel Lunar 2 Eternal Blue which will have new English Dub voices, remastered graphics and cutscenes with options for the old look, widescreen support, and additions like being able to speed up battle animations. It will also mark the very first time that Europe can finally play Lunar 2 Eternal Blue which marks another classic RPG to finally come to European regions years later. Many gamers can't wait to revisit this old RPG classic again on modern platforms.
4: Metroid Prime 4 Beyond
Developer: Retro Studios
After 7 years of its first ever announcement and then restarting over, the waiting is nearly over as the upcoming Metroid Prime 4 is finally coming to the Nintendo Switch and all of us can't believe that it is happening on the Nintendo Switch and is finally coming out this year. It may also come out and be a cross-gen title for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console. Either way Metroid Prime 4 Beyond looks really incredible for a Switch game and everyone is ready to jump into Samus' next mission with this.
3: Doom The Dark Ages
Developer: id Software
A Doom game set in a techno-medieval setting and everything about this upcoming game in the Doom franchise is absolutely insane and the developers have once again taken it several steps above and beyond. This game will have the Doom Slayer raiding a dragon, has him in a powered up mech and has the Doom staple weapons alongside a Shield Saw. Like the new Doom games seem to get more and more creative every these new entries when it comes to ways of fighting demons. Doom The Dark Ages is going to be a prequel to the two Doom reboot games and it will be an incredible Doom game to check out.
2: Splitgate 2
Developer: 1047 Games
1047's Splitgate was one of the top multiplayer online shooters that I have in recent memory and was a breath of fresh air from the gluttony of Live Service Battle Royale and Hero Shooters that end up dying out after only months of being on the gaming scene. It was an Arena based shooter with portals that let you portal around and surprise your enemies in unique creative ways. Splitgate 2 is looking to take the portal gameplay of the original and add a faction system where you can pick one of three available factions that offer up different weapon loadouts and affect the ways the portal mechanics work. So far gameplay previews and first tests have been really positive and I can't wait to step through the portal to the sequel when it comes out this year.
Honourable Mentions
Death Stranding 2 On the Beach (Kojima Productions)
Monster Hunter Wilds (Capcom)
Pokemon Legends Z-A (Game Freak)
Judas (Ghost Story Games)
Avowed (Obsidian Entertainment)
1: Tales of Series Game Remaster Project
Developer: Bandai Namco
Bandai Namco has recently in the past couple of months been talking about bringing a lot of their older Tales of Series games onto newer more powerful gaming machines and they recently did remasters of Tales of Vesperia which was great and as recent with the Tales of Symphonia Remastered which was just super lazy. They discussed possibilities of a Remaster for Tales of Xillia and recently announced a remaster for Tales of Graces F at the start of this year. The studio is planning to do a bunch of Tales of Series game remasters during all of 2025 up to 2026. There is also hope however that Bandai Namco could be going back to the really old Tales of Series games as far back as Tales of Phantasia which could be announced sometime after Tales of Graces F Remastered which might spark up hope for other Tales of Series games that have not been released outside of Japan yet to finally get a release on modern platforms.
