There are lots of RPGs for PS2 that just gets buried and never given a chance to be appreciated. Arc the Lad is one of them. I loved the collection released for PS, but after Arc the Lad III, the Twilight of the Spirits and End of Darkness never really appealed to me. But I have faith they are decent games, just not as good as Final Fantasy or Suikoden series. Here is a list of other titles I think deserve more highlight, all for PS2:

Wizardry / Atlus

Legaia Duel Saga / Eidos

Wild Arms 3, 4, 5 / Sony and XseedGames

Grandia II, Grandia III / Enix and Square-Enix

Growlanser Generation / Working Design

Dark Cloud 2 / Sony

ICO / Sony

Rogue Galaxy / Sony

.Hack series/ Namco-Bandai

Closing comments: Personally, besides Wizardry and the Persona series, I see Atlus games to be over-rated. I've heard other gamers comment that Square-Enix is milking their final fantasy, but atleast they don't short produce medicore games just to keep them at a high price of $49.99. Sorry if I offended Atlus fans. I personally don't agree with their pricing strategies and would appreciate purchasing their rare games around $30.

.hack could have been good, except they charge you full price for 1/4 of a game, there was really no reason not to just combine them all instead of milking it for all the money they could get.

I personally think the newer Final Fantasy games are overrated. Final Fantasy XII was average at best. Final Fantasy XIII will probably end up being a crapper of a game as well. I was going to trade in my 360 for a PS3 so I could get Final Fantasy XIII, but anymore I think I'll hold on to my 360 for Eternal Sonata, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Infinite Undiscovery, The Last Remnant, and Star Ocean 4.

Wizardry / Atlus-I'll give it praise, but not much

Legaia Duel Saga / Eidos-Did you notice the series stopped with this game?

Wild Arms 3, 4, 5 / Sony and XseedGames-Did you notice this series hasn't stopped?

Grandia II, Grandia III / Enix and Square-Enix-Grandia Extreme and Mark Hamill killed the series

Growlanser Generation / Working Design-wasn't praise what sent this to over $100 before the holday season?

Dark Cloud 2 / Sony-Everybody bought this game, it was GTA Vice City that overshadowed it.

ICO / Sony-This has been praised for 7 years, how have you missed it?

Rogue Galaxy / Sony-Everyone calls this FFXII done right or a FFXII clone. That's praise.

.Hack series/ Namco-Bandai-9 games on one console and you still think we don't know about it?

And that thing about Atlus, NO. Atlus is MORE than happy to reprint and repackage games from their warehouse, like when they let NISA take the Disgaea liscence because it was their game to start with. The MARKET determines the price of used games, and if the MARKET does not buy enough copies for everyone when a game is new, you can expect the "Atlus Markup."

It's no different than when "No One Can Stop Mr. Domino" was declared rare, it wasn't that good but the market wanted that game. If you're getting upset that quality=/=price then you didn't do your research. And yes, Atlus fans agree that some games should be cheaper, but the company can't do anything when the people who bought Persona 3 can't buy Persona 2. It's the rules of supply and demand, because Atlus won't see another dollar from a 10 year old Playstation 1 game.

The Atlus fans who buy the Atlus titles don't tend to sell or trade in their Atlus titles, so the second-hand value for any Atlus title is sky-high. Atlus has nothing to do with that; it's simply that Atlus fans don't give up their games once they buy them.

no, people shouldnt have to rely on getting used games when they want a game. Atlus is responsible for letting their games go out of print.

I agree with you. These games are not completely under appreciated, but I can't deny gamers will mention Final Fantasy, Oblivion, Suikoden series first rather than the titles mentioned above. ICO has been praised, but there's not enough demand since Sony is not making anymore. As for Atlus games, they did start remaking Digital Saga and Disgaea again, but they still short produce their catalgue and make sure they never go for $19.99. I personally don't agree with their pricing tactics for average old school games. At least Final Fantasy offers a strong storyline with great graphics and gameplay. Most Atlus games are still 2D animated with cliche storylines. Not trying to offend anybody. Just sharing my opinion. It just feels Atlus can only sell their games not by its quality but because gamers know it will be rare.

So I suppose Atlus should still be printing Revolutions: Persona, a game made in the mid-late 90s, huh? That's stupid. The second- and third-highest valued games, Digital Devil Saga and Nocturne, were both recently reprinted at a $40 new price tag. The highest-valued Atlus game is Revolutions: Persona, and I'm sure you don't expect them to still be printing that. Most other Atlus games besides the small few aren't really all that expensive.

If you loved the Arc the Lad Trilogy you should enjoy Twilight of the Spirits. End of Darkness should be avoided.

Most of the games in your list are good but Wild Arms 3 is crap imo. I've never played the .Hack series.
