If so, go to this website. They have a 12 step program you can take to ensure that you leave the path of hopeless addiction and commence a life of freedom and healthy living!

http://www.olganon.org/

Still can't insert hyperlinks....stupid Glitchspot. When will they get this fixed?

No. I can play for hours at a time, but if I need to do something else I have no problem quitting.

Not really. Sometimes I become obsessed with a game I'm currently playing or something. But I've gone days, weeks, months without playing in the past.

"Addicted" Isn't the word. I can quit playing whenever I want. My family takes a lot of vacations, and during them, I don't even think about games. I have spent days where I played games ofr about 5-6 Hours at a time. I am not proud of that, but it happened that way.

Yes somewhat. I'm perfectly fine with it though, because it's a much better addiction than drugs, alcohol, casual sex or over-eating.

I was only ever addicted once, and that was FFX, which I played for 2 months I think, I was kind of depressed. I suspect that games have been changed to reduce potential addiction, except for mmos, I wont go near that sh1t because I know what will happen.

I used to be, now I don't play hardly as much due to work, girlfriend etc. That said, when I do play I enjoy it more. Last game I played heavily was Dark Souls.

On-line Gamers Anonymous...just a little redundant.

This is a real thing though, isn't it.

I more-so get the itch for gaming; either for a new game I've been wanting to check out; or when I find that game that I just gotta know what comes next...but I only play "off-line" so I can always press pause while real life takes presidence.

(...although; The Secret World...might have me coming back here differently)

12 step programs are just watered down religious recruitment programs. Screw 12 steps... here's the only one you need: "Play video games in moderation."

I love to game, and it's what I do in my free time. I play around 25 hours a week, but if I had to, I could drop video games in a second without hesitation.

When I have the free time I can game so much that it looks like I'm addicted, but I have no problem stopping or even not playing for long periods of time if I have other important matters to deal with.

I was during the 16 bit era Golden age of Videogames. Played too much Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Turbo grafix 16 and cut school to go to the arcade. Sigh... These days I still play but no where near as much as I once did.

You just get busy as you get older with other stuff. Sigh..

But the last time I was honestly addicted to gaming was when I started into Final Fantasy 11. I still play plenty of games, but it's no addiction. I probably spend more time discussing games than I do playing them. If not for quick Kinect and 3DS games I can turn on and play in quick spurts, I may go weeks on end without playing. I won't be able to determine my GOTY 2011 until 2013 at this rate.

No. Although i think i spend more time thinking about gaming & talking about it, than i do actually playing them. I mean right now i could be playing a game, instead im here, talking about it lol.

It is something that i feel i need from time to time, it is something my mind thinks about alot, but by no means am i addicted.

I know because I've been there, done that.

Drugs, alcohol, and casual sex all tie together. Over-eating does not go with those. If you do alot of a drugs and drink, you usually dont over eat. When I used to drink 20+ drinks a day I lost 60 pounds. Never had an appetite when I was drinking that much. If I smoke alot and game, then I over-eat. Of course its just like everything in life, moderation is the best rule. Just making conversation.

So true, moderation in all things is the way to live. I've been addicted to lots of things in different times in my life, but I've always managed to break the cycle and get back to normal.

Playing video games is easily the least harmful of those things, and more or less a time killer and filler when the circumstances are right. It's no worse than those who watch too much tv/movies or sports.

Well said. When I find Im going out to the bars too much, I just think of staying in and gaming. It keeps me from being a daily drinker, as I really dont like to play games drunk (some sports games occasionally). When a good new release comes out then I wont go out for a week or two. It really helps. Also, every night I dont go to the bar I can buy a new video game. Thats pretty much what I spend going out each night ($40 to $60).

Yes. Virtual world is indeed a better place than this real world. But I'm not the kind of gamer who refuse school and just play games for 24 hours straight. That's way too excessive.
